Jam Racing Is No More

Recommended Posts

Ok we all knew that this time last year the jam racing website went very quiete

when you transilated the page it said due to work comitments the retail parts side was closed concentraiting on the garage side.

well.

after a bit of looking online i stumbled across a very sad site that documented jam going bust on the 5th of january 2009

this person revisited jam hq two months ago to be shocked by the empty site.

RIP Jam Racing you will be sourly missed.

There's only so much you can do when you're a one or two man operation to keep your company going in a market as volatile as the vehicle aftermarket preparation field, catering for a car that stopped being sold 10 years prior and which wasn't hugely popular...

I dont think its the last of JAM. because of the current events in the world with the recession.

give it time they would be back on the scene.

dont lose faith. few days of the shop shut dont mean squat.

could be a bigger and better area there going for...

just dont know whats on the cards!

Cruise still deals I think, and the 18G kit I sold was from a Starlet specialist, but he's not a fully fledged tuner

Other than that, I think its a bit bleak there - if you combine the fact that when they have the cars had to have their "Shaken" test (equivalent of an MOT) at 3 years from new, and the extortionate cost of doing such, even the newest Starlet was at risk of not being renewed in 2002; so a lot came over here as imports from then, and I don't think a lot of people were going to spend too much on a relatively low volume niche hatchback. I think most of the specialised tuners would've died a few short years from then.

That JAM and Zep Racing dealt for so long is quite amazing really, as they were only 1-2 men operations, and managing to keep business afloat with such a restricted market must've been far from easy. Even with the racing involvement both manufacturers had (and remember, JAM Racing even had a small bit of televised promotion in one of the Best Motoring videos).

Oh yes....I recently saw a JAM and Mine's ECU on the Auctions for a starter price of...£600

Gone are the days of having the ECU's for less than £200 :)
