ryan lang
no im sure theyre just the standard 84 or 86bhp same as the n/a and yes a 1.3 lolunsure what hes jabbin about lol
Ryan5793
your right Ryan, they are indeed a 1.3, im sure (just going by my own findings) that all japanese starlets had the so called 'rolla' mani and the glanza s had a different ecu, again though maybe all japanese models had this making them all 84bhp over our uk spec 74bhp. The previous EP82 GI model I've heard had 99bhp standard but i really dont know how true that is. Im sure someone like enzo or phil will know alot better than me though! ryan lang
yeh im sure theres 3 gens of the 4efe and the gi is 99bhpThe first generation of 4E engines found in the Starlet GI, Soleil and Corolla models were produced from 1989 until 1996. The engine found in these two models produced 99 bhp (74 kW) @ 6600 rpm and 86 ft·lbf (117 N·m) @ 5200 rpm. this engine had more in common with the 4E-FTE, sharing the same throttle body, and slightly larger fuel injectors.Specs: 74 mm Bore 77.4 mm Stroke 9.6:1 Compression Ratio The 2nd Generation of the 4E-FE was introduced in 1996 producing less peak power: 88 bhp (66 kW) @ 5500 rpm, but with a slight increase in peak torque 87 ft·lbf (118 N·m) at 4400 rpm. The 2nd generation of the 4E-FE was essentially the same engine as the first but the intake and exhaust manifolds were changed along with a slight alteration of the ECU to reduce exhaust emissions.Specs: 74.3 mm Bore 77.4 mm Stroke 9.6:1 Compression Ratio 3rd Gen 4E-FEIn 1997 the intake manifold was changed again along with the ECU and the result was 85bhp for the Corolla and 82bhp for the Starlet. This engine was discontinued in 1999.doesnt say anything about it being 74 bhp tho lolgood ole wikipediaand going by this, the newer starlets like the 98-99 have less bhp than say a 96-97 n/a, and mines a 97 lol
Dan507
"Glanza S has 115hp 1.5 litre 16 valve engine" thats the 5efe i think,As stated above the S (well my one) have 86hpThere is a Second Gen 4efe (like the one on Enzo' n1400 project. And yes, i have also heard tha the GI has 100bhp
Craig_N
Yeah as Dan as said the S is 86hp and the GI has 100hp
Nanglebadger
the S had the rolla mani, a different ECU and also different injectors, all adding to increased power over the UK spec ones, altho i always thought it was 100bhp not 86, learn something new every day. Jay has one of the EP8* 100bhp engines in his garage from Pete's old EP85 so he can confirm the exact differences, but from what i saw of that block, it didnt have the rolla mani on her.Phil. Craig_N
The answer that catches a few folks out - it was a 85ps version of the 4EFE.They started looking at torque and drivability and that's the engine they came up with. ;)Here you go guys i asked the question about a year ago to the ep God and here the answer
Dan507
i wish the s was 100hp
