philpott Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 basically ive done everything else sept upgraded my manifold and bought hks actuator and braided oil feed just wanted to know weather or not its risky cranking the boost up without the other parts? thanks Quote
ollie ryan Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 have to have a mani to run 1 bar dude Quote
Josh@TunerLifestyle Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 as said above mate the mani is restricted in port 3 and if you turn the boost up to 1 bar it will melt your piston, i think once you have an upgraded mani it should be safe to run 1.0 bar with supporting mods Quote
philpott Posted February 13, 2011 Author Posted February 13, 2011 that was the answer i was kinda looking for, wont be doing that then always helpful cheers lads Quote
aidanep71 Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 well i now a few lads running 1 bar with no a/m mani for years with no problems Quote
TrisK Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 helloive had 0.8 creeping to 1.1bar with standard maniits on my list to change asap, and i dont cane it a lot as im scared for my pistons Quote
Guest tubby_ep82 Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Anyone know if the stock clutch will take 1 bar on the ct9 hybrid ?Regards Quote
Amjad Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 ^My clutch slips at 0.8 bar on a CT9A so I'm looking to upgrade to a CAP ClutchOn topic, I run 0.7 bar on a standard mani that has been ported, I'm a bit hesitant to run 1 bar through it though! Quote
lew777 Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Ive run 1 bar on standard manifold for 16 months still no problems Quote
harrijones Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 ive ran at 1 bar on standard mani and standard oil feed no problems at all and it creeps to 1.1 bar been running it for just over a year Quote
philpott Posted May 18, 2011 Author Posted May 18, 2011 dont start seying this i will be buying a hks actuator now! anyone actually blown a piston doing this or is it just a rumor? Quote
Amjad Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 If you all saw the restriction in the third runner I doubt you'd be running that boost on a stock mani! Quote
ollie ryan Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 i ran a stock mani at 1bar for less then a month and it chewed my third piston rings up Quote
MARC MOSS Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Can't u just port number 3 on the stock manifold?Rob2.2 on here has it done on his stock manifold running 1.0 bar on a hybrid plus his cat is still fitted but is gutted and it's been on there for years now! And he drives it like a right nutI've heard the stories about melting pistons many times it definitely happens I guess some people are just lucky if it hasn't happened to them bud...! Quote
philpott Posted May 18, 2011 Author Posted May 18, 2011 okay thanks for the input suppose it could come down to a few things at the end of the day.okay thanks for the input suppose it could come down to a few things at the end of the day. Quote
Fro Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 dont start seying this i will be buying a hks actuator now! anyone actually blown a piston doing this or is it just a rumor? Was round at Mark@CMB's the other day and there was a block sitting absolutely destroyed, young lad running circa .8bar on a standard manifold, flat out in 5th so probably creeping a bit too. Bang, mass destruction! I wouldnt have a problem running one if it was ported but not with that massive restriction in the runner! Quote
aidanep71 Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 i thinkits down to the driver tbh if ya keep away frm the red line ud be grand Quote
