Turkish91 Posted September 16, 2011 Author Posted September 16, 2011 Few pics of my car just before it broke lolH22 shat itself so getting a D16 Turbo engine in there now instead 240bhp straight up at about 8psi Quote
Turkish91 Posted December 22, 2011 Author Posted December 22, 2011 As per my last post, the new engine is now in!Running 7psi on the new engine, estimated at between 240-250bhp Will be getting it verified on a dyno next year once the 3" downpipe has been fittedAnd needless to say I'm loving it! So much quicker than before, good for about 150mph, has 2-step fitted as well as a screamer pipe so as you can imagine it's erm quite loud!Few pics and a cheeky vid! More vids to come next year along with (MAYBE!) a full respray, bay shave/tuck/spray and yet more chassis refreshing... Watch this space http://youtu.be/aVBKVN-UfbM Quote
ollie ryan Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 why on earth did you go d16 turbo over b16 or b18 turbo? Quote
Turkish91 Posted December 22, 2011 Author Posted December 22, 2011 why on earth did you go d16 turbo over b16 or b18 turbo?Because a D16 costs about £100 whereas a B16/18 costs like £600+The little D16s are as strong as an ox tbh!Plus I got offered the whole package in a straight swap for my blown H22 set up. Just had to pay the labour to swap them, so it was a bit of a no brainer I think you'll agree? Quote
ollie ryan Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 ah right yeah i see why now lol, what sort of power and boost can your run through one without forging? Quote
Turkish91 Posted December 24, 2011 Author Posted December 24, 2011 Well thats up for some debate, I think it just depends on how lucky you are with the engine! This one was built up by Daz @ DNR. It was fully checked over before running boost and had a new oil pump, water pump, cambelt and head gasket before fitment into his own EK.It was ran at various different pressures; he told me that this engine ran for almost a year at 10psi without any hassle whatsoever, and that produced around 275bhp looolIIRC he said he managed to get well over 300bhp (331 I think!) on one of his old D16 engines a few years back, at around 15psi... But it lasted about a month until the inevitable happened. Strong little engines! So running mine at 7psi will be plenty reliable I should imagine Quote

Turkish91 Posted February 8, 2012 Author Posted February 8, 2012 UPDATE!Busy afternoon, managed to soak myself as well whilst washing it... Hose was frozen solid so had to throw buckets of water on the car instead... slipped and emptied the whole cunting thing on top of myself! GOOD EFFORT!Decided it didn't want to start, even though I'd whacked a new battery on it last month. So out came Freddy the Fourtrak to the rescue with the jump leads! Then got it on the drive, decided to de-tint it first and remove my Skunk2 stickers to replace for some CivicLife ones!Freddy hiding in the backgroundThen fitted my new rocker cover... looks shit hot, just need to finish off the rest of the bay! And decided I want a new manifold and downpipe from Solid-Fab or RaceTech as mine looks shit. Just need to decide which one is closer and which I'd prefer as both do some amazing fabrication work! Swaying towards Solid Fab atm, but I think it is further for me to travel Then whacked a sticker on the back window just for lolzThen she had a bathThen took it for a quick drive round the village to dry off followed by a quick rub down with the microfibres Looks weird without the front lip, need to reattach it asap! Jamie1st Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Looks awesome dude, but get the front lip back on as you said!Jamie Quote
