jellybaby
So I got a phone call today fromThe mapper giving me bad news my clutch pedal decided to give up the ghost during the map don't no what's caused it yet poss slave but was new or it is my clutch master cylinder so that's one thing Anouther is that they noticed a fair amount of tapping on my head which is making listing for deternation hard. Think it is valve shims anouther set back I so far spent 2700 at the place for various things I wanted to be done including the partial map. So now I got to bring the car home find out why the pedal gone hopefully it fluid related and not clutch but mapper said it just lost Pedel and decide what to do with the shims I might go Toyota as I have a trade account. It a pain and now having to take a 700 quid pay cut I am now haven't got a clue what to do

jellybaby
Be rare if the mc failed.. but there is a first as they say. When you getting it back?Yer looksLike it was a pipe has popped fromPhone call I got and they checking to valve clearances for me then I will order the shims and fit them my self. IGot to decide if I calling it aDay ATM and bring it home and save some money to finish the map as current bill is 2700 but they have done a lot of work on the car in otherAreas most of it is labour tbh but that what u get by a good tuning company a high labour rate lol Edited May 16, 2017 by jellybaby
jayc-glanza17
Get pipe back on..Give it some boost and a map.Need to see how it reacts to boost before re shimming..
Ollieh17
If the shims are noisy I would definitely sort them before any mapping. Probably the same as some motorbikes
jellybaby
Get pipe back on..Give it some boost and a map.Need to see how it reacts to boost before re shimming..The mapper recommend that they b checked due to it hard to hear the det prop through the det cans and it was bloody loud tapping fromThe head. It better to get them sorted then carry on mapping to be on safe side at end of day it what a extra 59-100 quid if I need a few shims from Toyota
jayc-glanza17
Didnt you check them though?Mines really quite tappy nothing worth breaking over. What about the clutch issue and further clues?

They just want to give me the best map possible Looks like it is just a lose connection on my braided clutch line

jellybaby
Thats a result. Are they doing a health check before map?Like a compression test..all that has been done before the maping started all came bk spot on just the shims I need to do now
jellybaby
SoUpdate from the checks the clearances are fine how ever my cam followers are wrong for the type of cams I have fitted which is causing the lobe of the cam catching on theFollowers and trying to push the shims out.!So the cams in there are now ruined so need to sorce a new set of cams or a good second handSet. My question is what power can the stock cams take ?

jellybaby
Well well I not posted for donkeys what a hell of a start of a year I had which is leading me this way in possible selling up. Since the new year I been battling a very serious mental illness which has cost me financially and also physically i also have split split from my partner of 5 years and have a little one of 3 years old I have not touched the car since it come bk from the tuners with the issues of me having to sorce stock cams and also new shims which I have now got. How ever I at the stage where I not got time to work on her to get it ready for the dyno again. I also have a massive list of snagging to get through on it as well as decide what to do to reduce engine by temps. So as it stands the car including buying it in 2007 is 25k todays market I get aprox maybe 8-9 if fully working. Stripping it I prob make little bit more but hassle of waiting for people to want bits. I really don’t no what to do I was going to poss crowdfund and compete in a time attack series but that’s a long shot.
