riko666
May as well start the member's ride thread from Afresh to rid of all the clutter of the previous installations, but instead I shall also provide some sort of a history and the several dozen times the car broke down...--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- June 2004 to December 2005 -Well, just to give a bit of a backdrop, used to own a White 1997 Toyota Paseo Si, which I got bought about 2 weeks after passing my test in June 2004 (at the age of 17) and owned up until December 2005 when I bought the 1998 Cynos Beta (which you'll know, has a 5efhe as opposed to the 5efe of the Paseo). Below are pictures of the Paseo, and some Action shots too, a trackday at Curborough Sprint Track, and an Autotest:Curborough Trackday & Heythrop Park Autotest: November 2005 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- April 2006 -Well, after getting rid of that hideous, non-JDM (cause that's what really matters..../sarc) owning the Cynos Beta I've had my fair share of fun (Trackdays at Silverstone, Goodwood & Lydden Hill), and pure utter hatred for the car...Complete engine rebuild - July to November 2006: This was the result of a mixture of 3 trackdays...along with the fact that I drove the car for about 200mi with very little oil...burnt as a result of the trackdays perhaps?During this period though, I continued driving the car though and on June 16th I had my first reunion with the man that I always trust my car with now. There he carried out the following:Suspension Overhaul - June 16th 2006: Got a Whiteline Anti-lift kit & Panhard Rod, RSR*R Springs/KYB SS Shocks/HKS Pillowball Mounts, Ultra Racing Fender Braces & SPATS Rear Strut Brace installed--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- November 2006 -However, on getting the car back (engine rebuilt, and a CAP Paddle Clutch/Crankshaft Scraper & High Volume Oil Pump installed), to say I was disappointed was an understatement...true, I sent the car to a BMW Specialist to fix, but regardless, they managed to knick the Knock Sensor wire (as they had wired it completely wrong), which they failed to diagnose and I drove the car in a state of Timing Retardation for right about a month...till this happened...:Sheared Knock Sensor Bolt - December 2006: Oh well, good time to do this then:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- December 2006 -Yes, I got my grubby hands and attempted to fix the issue...by snapping the Knock Sensor bolt, which turned out to be a complete bodge. Off to the garage the car went...Knock Sensor Repair & 5efhe work - December to January 2006: Got the knock sensor issue resolved, as well as getting some items fitted, like an Oil Cooler, Crankshaft Scraper, lighter pulleys, TRD Lower Control Arm Bushes etc...I get the car in mid-January, and my word...it's an animal! Oh but no, we can't have me being happy for too long can we...3 days...yes, THREE days after getting the car back, I get Oil Pressure problems...the oil pressure was nonexistent till the Oil warmed up...by driving. Not a wise decision, and I did 300mi with the car in this condition, ignoring everyone's advice. Ah yes, paying for my own mistake on the side of a dual carriageway, when the heavy snow fell...and I was just wearing a t-shirt and jeans:<Insert picture of my old Crankshaft with the Middle Main Bearing Welded onto the crankshaft...>--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- February 2007 -Off to the garage we go again...The guy I sent it to was busy until March (this occurred on the first week of February) so the car lay idle outside his garage until then. Oh, and yes, I lost a testicle from standing outside in the snow for about an hour waiting for my flatmates to rescue me.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- May 2007 -So, deciding that some miserable "high-up" of some "heavenly" hierarchy thought it funny to curse the 5efhe, I had went along with what many people were telling me since the car was being gay a year earlier...and a 4efte found intself in my engine bay, fancy that?! In May 10th of this year, the car was once again mine and well, the difference just doesn't compare - I was reluctant for the transplant, but I can now see what the fuss is all about. I also had some Cusco Metal Rear Axle Arm Bushes, a Glanza Rear Axle, A/C Removed, JAM Actuator, SARD Thermostat and other things whilst the car was there.Suffice to say, I have been almost trying to kill this thing (the bastard deserves it for causing me so much suffering), what, with running 1Bar, on a TMIC, and no hoodscoop...But it's still alive! To this day I haven't added much, beyond an HID Kit, Stripped a lot of weight (airbags, all interior trim) and some JIC Coilovers...--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------History lesson over, on with the car: For a project to actually called so, you must have an objective...so mine in Leighman's terms is to have a relatively streetable track car. Things will start small, with getting the car upto Scratch, improving the engine's efficiency, and as money permits, experiment with the more suited suspension settings. For all the number mongers there, when I get hands on a K1-200v, my ideal "numbers" are of around 200bhp, and a weight as close to 800kg as I can manage. Power figures matter little to me, I want usable power which is why I'm going to stay with a CT9 related setup, for the relatively quick boost response available. Anyway, hope you enjoy the pictures and the continued progress of the car:Some of the recent modifications:And some action shots in it's non-modified guise:I will also start listing my newest modifications as they come, starting with the following:- 3rd - 8th October 2007 -What you see there is Versa Cruise (Apex-i) Voltage Stabiliser Kit, Tom's TECS ECU & Zep Racing Decat, Courtesy of Monsieur Keith, thanks to you xx - SARD RRFPR ready to fit, and an Autobahn Oil Catch tank, waiting for a spot for me to install it in, thanks Madame Tobitha - and a Pin-Type JAM Actuator to go on my Rebuilt CT9b, thanks Mademoiselle IanAnd just got round to doing the following:That's the oil Catch can w/ mutilated Garden hose, Voltage Stabiliser, Re-adjusted intake pipe, SARD RRFPR and the Tom's ECUSpecifications list runs as follows:- Powertrain -Apex-I 5efhe Power FilterApex-I (Versa Cruise) Voltage Stabilizer KitDenso Iridium Spark PlugsEP82 "Silver Cambelt Cover" Starlet GT 4efte EngineFord Focus ST FMIC (Waiting to Install)Hayward & Scott Cat-Back 2.5" Exhaust SystemHayward & Scott FMIC Piping (Waiting to install)Hayward & Scott eFI Piping (Waiting to Modify for BOV)Heat Reflective Fiberglass Wrap on Induction PipingJAM Racing Actuator (Waiting for the Rebuilt CT9b)JAM Racing Manifold (Waiting to Receive)MA70 Toyota Supra 7MGE 315cc/min Fuel Injectors (Waiting to Receive)Magnecor KV85 Spark Plug WiresModified Cynos Beta Exhaust w/ Glanza Front PipePower Enterprise Mag II Oil FilterRe-adjusted (Bodge) Induction PipingRebuilt CT9b Turbo (Waiting to Rebuild)SARD Rising Rate Fuel Pressure RegulatorSARD Uprated ThermostatTom's TECS ECUTRD 1.3kg/m Sports Radiator CapTRD Duracon Oil CapZep Racing Decat (Waiting to Install)- Exterior -Booster Tuning Paseo Foglights KitCracked out indicator lense with Ring Clear Indicator bulbsFactory Optional Aero Lip kitH-I-D 4300k H4 Hi/Lo HID Conversion KitMHW Silver repeater bulbsPhilips Premium sidelight bulbsNissan BCNR33 Skyline GTR Bumper Vents (Waiting to Install)Spaced BonnetUltra Clear Side Repeaters- Interior -AE92 Corolla GTi Front Seats (Waiting to modify)Dension DH100ix Headunit w/ DMP3c 60gb 2.5" HDDNardi Classico 330mm Leather Steering WheelSARD 60mm Boost Pressure Gauge & GReddy Gauge PodTRD Short Shifter Kit- Suspension -Cusco Metal Rear Axle Arm BushesHKS Pillowball MountsJIC Magic Lower Control Arm BraceJIC Magic Height Adjustable CoiloversSPATS front strut tower barSPATS rear strut tower barTRD Front Lower Control Arm & Anti-Roll Bar Endlink BushesUltra Racing fender braceUltra Racing floor braceWhiteline Adjustable Panhard RodWhiteline Castor kit- Brakes -3G 10 Groove Front Brake DiscsCusco Brake Master Cylinder StopperPagid Fast Road Brake PadsToyota Glanza-V rear axle assembly with Rear "Race" Pads- Drivetrain -LSD Gearbox (Factory Option)- Rolling Stock -Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D2 tyresUeda RS-Eight II/Watanabe RS-8 2pc. 14" Alloy wheels- Weight Reduction -Airbag ECU Removed (1kg)Passenger Airbag Removed (5kg?)Boot Trim removed (>1kg)A/C System removed (15kg?)Rear Seat, Belts & Trim removed (16kg)Spare wheel & Trim (11kg)A/B/C-Pillar Trims & Headlining (4kg)Mats & Carpet (6kg)- Soon to be added -Blitz K1-200v TurboCarbon Fibre Door PanelsCusco Polyurethane Lower Control Arm BushesDyno Tuning SessionHayward & Scott FMIC Piping (And fit FMIC)More Weight ReductionRace Licence & Advanced Driver CourseRemove Power SteeringSuspension Alignment by LedaWhiteline Front & Rear Anti-Roll BarsZep Racing Baffled Oil PanZep Racing Braided Brake & Clutch LinesZep Racing Engine DamperZep Racing Oil Catch CanEtc...Being a motorsports fanatic like myself (come on, every Italian thinks they're Schumacher), I'm quite a Trackday fairy...for the remainder of this year I'm hoping to go on quite a few and enjoy the car, seeing as in the last year I've barely driven 2000mi...Watch this space for the continual waste of money that'll ensue

Mikey Jay
Good to see you on here Riko Loving how sorted your Seo (or cynos ) is Is a real inspiration to Paseo newbies like myself Keep up the good work and looking forward to further developments
riko666
thank you all - Enzo: Handling is not bad, you are right though, it is extremely grippy (considering how woeful it used to be), still rolls a bit but it just seemingly never runs out of grip, I need to go on a trackday to test it out as I haven't done in more than a year Realise the Buddyclubs will be stiff (especially the ones I'm getting...they have HKS 12kg/mm & 10kg/mm springs front & back!), and I don't have a rear Anti-Roll bar yet, but will do later on in the year...only thing missing suspension wise is uprated ARB's, Uprated Droplinks, Polyurethane front Control Arm bushes...and that's it, everything else has been added. Want to get the Cusco B-Pillar braces too at some point, and fiddle around with some other home-made braces and fill the chassis rails with polyurethane foam. Oh, and I'll be buying dry-ice soon to remove all the sounddeadening in the car- Joz & Mikey: Thanks, and Joz, well, you'd know out of everyone the journey and pains of the car - Ian: thanks again, and I will definitely not do a trackday before having the FMIC on - I have an FPR & Walbro Fuel Pump coming shortly, and I may get a short dyno session done to just set the fuelling for now. riko666
Its different in a good way Looks cool and good luck with the track days im sure she is a bit of fun with that spec Alas I have only done the trackday when the car was bone-stock, but I am to change that sharpish Enzo, I know man, but I'm not one to take passengers really...after the summer, the rear passenger compartment shall be gone, I've taken out the rear seat right now and I like it Besides, all passengers do is complain...and that's with just 2.7kg & 2.28kg springs! As for your polyurethane bushes, I have no money as of right now, but if you're willing you could trade it for something I'm selling if you so wish? Or I could leave a deposit? Could you give me more details on it please like manufacturer, price, usage etc...
Mikey Jay
You're comment reminded me there, so just asked, and the missus says no to me removing the rear seats Oh well, and you also reminded me I keep meaning to propose a track day to Brands Hatch.(and send me my rocker cover you )
riko666
Brands Hatch is just 30 mi down the road from me (back at home)...how annoying is it that I can't afford to go Haha, just for that, I'm going to colour the rocker cover neon pink!

riko666
Anyway:I've only connected the vacuum hose (Tee'd it off the MAP Sensor) as I do not value my electric knowledge...or lack thereof. But found the perfect position for it, right in the line of site....hole that I drilled is fugly but, meh by the way, do I need to use this:Waiting to receive my CT9b, SARD RRFPR, 7MGE Injectors, Walbro Fuel Pump (And once I finish paying for them - JAM ECU & JIC Magic Coilovers)...and hopefully do a rough dyno tune just to have everything hunkydory, so, watch this space

Blue Icarian Wings
Really nice, pitty you couldn't turbo the 5E-FHEI really wanted a Paseo but we ended with another starlet
riko666
Indeed it was - in the end it's less hassle with the 4e-fte with the management side of things and cracking the 5efhe open to swap the pistons etc...Ah well, can't complain! And I wondered what car you had, always associated you with a Paseo for some reason!
Blue Icarian Wings
Probably as I keep buying bits off you, I also signed up to the Paseo forum when I considering getting one
