Beastmode panda
Hello all,Just wanting to know if there is any weight saving scheme threads at all for an ep91? I mate did one for his b16 eg and he's gone right down to swapping electric windows for manuel, stuff like that.Or if everyone could share how they have saved weight in their glanza/starlet?So far my carpet is out and my rear seat, no spare wheel.. That's about it, but i want to go further but not sure what else i can do other than lighter seats.
aaddzz123
Literally take out everything you don't need, all you should need is a drivers seat, seatbelt, steering wheel, handbrake and pedals lol. Lighter/smaller wheels, poly windows, you can cut the rear wheel well out and weld a blanking sheet over the top. Cut unwantedMetal from doors, boot lid, bonnet skin, fibreglass roof... There's so much you can do. It depends how drastic you want to go!
maddox710
Id go carbon fibre body panels and poly windows..... thats if i had a spare suitcase of money knocking about

Taggy
I did it to my ep82, only problem i found was that it ruins the car to drive as a daily if you go as drastic as i did, it gets so rattly boomy i used to hate driving it on the road unless i was on track.I removed all the interior, pulled up the sound deadening on the floors, there is tons of shit behind the dash you can throw out, i removed the rear skin to the boot, passenger seat, ermm if it wasnt bolted down it came out! rinseep82
Iev gone all out mate cut the wheel well out poly car windows all round stripping the wiring loom no dash carbon seat anything I can think of iev done the only thing iev done that added a. It of weight was put a roll cage in took the old tank out for a alloy race cell aswell
Beastmode panda
Cheers for the feedback guys, yes this is my daily car. 2 seats are needed really though boys! Im going to get 2 kirkey racing seats and for any of you who know what they are they are ally seats so stupidly light!I WELL want to cut out the spare wheel well, i don't know much about ally welding but i presume an ally sheet would have to be welded in place? Or riveted? Or can you weld aly to the chassis? Also want poly windows for the rear, how much do they cost?
Beastmode panda
Oh and i have a fibreglass bonnet already!PAS i will be keeping as its my daily and i have to park on the street which involves parrellel parking haha.
morgey
As far as im aware u cant weld ally to steel (chassis) so would have to be riveted or use a thin steel sheet, window range 2nd hand I've seen the back 3 go for £120ish but new I've seen them as much as £400+
Beastmode panda
Yeah thought so about the welding. Do i literally just cut out the wheel well with a grinder then rivet an aly sheet in the hole lol?Sweet man, what about making my own? Popping out the current glass then useing them as a cut out for the poly windows (if i can get a sheet of poly).
rinseep82
Look at my build thread man just cut it with a grinder got and cut ally sheet and I bolted mine down
