JTStarlet92 Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 Ok so firstly, is it possible to powdercoat the compressor side of the turbo without paint peeling or coming off? Secondly, am I better taking the turbo apart to get it coated or keep it as is? Quote
MARC MOSS Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 Lol why would u powder coat a turbo??It will last five minutes under boost before it catches fire or u die of smoke inhalation Quote
JTStarlet92 Posted December 2, 2012 Author Posted December 2, 2012 I just heard it was possible? Thought this was the best place to ask ha Quote
Azz Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 You can ceramic coat it pall, same end result as powdercoat but will not burn off Quote
daniel_g Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 I know you can have the exhaust manifold coated in ceramic shit, you can choose different colours too. But it ain't cheap.Canny mind the name of the company but they might be able to help you ? Quote
micky boy Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 The compressor side dont get that hot!Martin from holland has only sprayed his with what i think was VHT paint and his has lasted for months and a ct9 turbo gets hotter then most turbos due to the size of it! Quote
Azz Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 I did spray the exhaust side the black vht and it lasted about a week before it looks immensly shite ! If you google ceramic coating there are lots of places that you can send it off to be done Quote
morgey Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 A local guy uses these people/>http://www.zircotec.com/Quite expensive but works pretty well and looks great. Quote
JTStarlet92 Posted December 2, 2012 Author Posted December 2, 2012 I've phoned zircotec about exhaust manifolds and stuff and its quite expensive but worth it I suppose, got told you can touch the manifolds when hot with the best coating? Think I'll get everything else sorted first before dealing with the turbo as there's some wobble in the shaft Quote
Liam_D Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 Turbine side gets mega hot and isnt worth painting, Compressor side is okay to paint just make sure you use a high heat paint and give it a good coating and it should be okay Quote
Addymk2 Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 BBQ Paint or paint for the inside of stoves is perfect ;-) Quote
