micky boy
Thinking of going TDO4 sometime soon!Has anyone used the OEM Rad useing the Toyosports manifold/down pipe befor?CheersMichael
Idrees
Yes. As long as your custom actuator bracket clears it you'll be fine.
pig666eon
as far as i know its oem rad friendly dude but its very tight, there was a few cases that it was that tight the movement of the engine punched a hole in the rad from the actuatorprob best going with the civic rad just to be on the safe side
micky boy
Thinks for that idrees Im not a fan of the civic rads i know alot of people have ran them without any problems! But think the fins on them are made out of tinfoil and bed very easly!..So would like to keep the standard Rad!

Im buying the bits over time so think ill give it a test fit to see how much room there is and if theres not much ill have to go for the civic Rad! Idrees
Agreed, the Civic rads are good and a worthy investment. It makes life so much easier when working in the engine bay. We have them available brand new.

DavidAshton
I have had a Toyosports TD04 mild steel on my car +2 years now with no issues at all. It has been braced and extra welds added so that could be the reason it's lasted. In regards to the topic my car uses a n/a rad so the TD04 actuator has enough clearance, no issues with temps etc and looks OEM, I tried a civic rad and it just looked bodged. micky boy
Thanks for that info DaveDidnt think about braceing or useing a N/A Rad ill bare that in mind
TrisK
I tried a civic rad and it just looked bodged.Did you do it with a proper mounting kit? or a fabbed one?
steve-gers
If your worried about the actuator bursting the rad then go externally gated, problem solved.
Socks
KidV used a stainless toyosports td04 kit. That was braced in 2 places between the flanges with some flatbar...Never had an issue. was still a shit fitment tho...
DavidAshton
Did you do it with a proper mounting kit? or a fabbed one? With tie wraps, thats probably why it looked super bodged but I also didnt like the way it stretched and moved the rad hoses and it didnt cool as well as the standard n/a rad. morgey
My civic rad works better than my n/a rad. If i get on it with my heaters on the car cools so much it goes onto cold idle again!I am going to get a new thermostat to see if it solves this just incase
