Places that can rebuild my rear calipers?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know where I can get my rear calipers rebuilt if I were to send them off? Not really aware of anyone local who can do it at a good price! Looking for a full rebuild and paint.

Thanks

Amjad

I rebuilt mine myself, typically had seized solid only to realise after stripping them and rebuilding them completely, that the sliders were just binding in the rubber gaitors!

Been to slack to try some different greases and oils to see if any of them dont seize!

But at least i know they are good apart from that lol

I done the ones on my old GT best off getting a seal kit and new pistons so that's about £150 for parts. You could take them to an auto factors like kimber friction in Southampton, specialise in brakes. They would come back looking brand new and would be zink plated

It might be worth trying to just loosen them first actually, I haven't had them off yet but going by the noise they make at low speeds and my economy I can tell they aren't working properly

Wow that's a big parts cost! I'll see what that place says, thanks! Jamie1st got his fully rebuilt and painted for £80 and tbh I'd be happy at that price, gonna call up the place he went to when I get a chance and see what they say!

But if anyone else knows places let me know!

Sorry amjad i didnt, Piece of piss all you need to do is remove the piston with a windback tool, remove the clip holding the seal in, then give the inside a good clean and grease, dress the piston up a bit if needed, the rest of the seals just pop out on the sliders etc

Doesnt take long at all! Nothing sinister it honestly just screws in and out on a rod lol

Speaking of rewind tool, does anyone have a link? Need to order one so I can get my replacement used calipers fitted!

 Don't suppose you know which specific socket would fit? As they sell the same style tool with just one attachment. I would only use it on the GT so the kit would kinda go to waste
