Tercel-R
I drive the less-exciting North American version of the Starlet...the Tercel. It has the stock 5E-FE engine with a wimpy 93hp. Luckily most of the parts are interchangeable with the Starlet and it's relativly easy to swap in a 4efte.I have mainly focused on the suspension/brakes so far. I can actually notice it while driving... the car feels more peppy from a stop. Got the matching Rays Duralumin locking lug nuts. The 8W7 and HD900/5. Sounds amazing and still leaves some trunk space. Bigger brake from a Corolla: Here's how the car looks now: Just waiting for some better weather so I can get these beauties fitted: That's all for now...
StuDoc 72
I like it! The interior just looks that bit more quality than a starlet as if its more complete its also so clean. Those wheels are sexual too. Ill be keeping an eye on this
PaulStarletSR
very nice buddy! clean as hell!!
Amjad
Welcome! I quite like these, I think it may be the only active Tercel build on here! Do cars in Canada rust really badly? I remember seeing a video a while back of someone's used Mazda that was a few years old, and it looked really bad underneath. The thought of that much rust sent shivers haha
Tercel-R
Thanks everyone, I only wish it came with a 4efte! Rust isn't really an issue on the west coast as the winters are fairly mild. Central Canada is completely different...they salt the roads in the winter and that destroys cars.
jimmymac101
Really love this car simple mods but sets it off nicely ;) Got to ask the question ...... When Is the 4efte getting dropped In? James
Tercel-R
Really love this car simple mods but sets it off nicely ;)Got to ask the question ...... When Is the 4efte getting dropped In?James I've been debating getting a 4efte swap, or putting a small turbo on my 5efe and run low boost. I might get a bit more power with the 5e and possibly do it all for cheaper than the full 4e swap.
Xpect
The Tercel has more in common with the Paseo (the sport-coupe brother of the Starlet). The interior, especially handbrake and gearknob surround are the same as in German Baseos, Starlets have a little coin holder in front of the handbrake. Also the engine is the same as the Paseos. But the air intake at the front which goes to the filter housing is much bigger than at a Starlet and I think than even of the Paseo.
Tercel-R
You are correct. We have lots of Paseos here too. In Canada they are mechanically identical to the Tercel. Much of the interior is also the same.
Starbuck
Nice start.
Zemerz
That looks epic! Wouldn't mind one of these. Interior is proper nice compated to UK Starlets, and... DEM SEATS!!! Haha I'm all excited now Keep us updated bro!

Tercel-R
I've been running the Meisters for a couple weeks now and I love them. They handle the bumps quite well while still being firm. Now that the springs have settled I'm going to try and drop them a bit more and see if I run into any clearance issues. I've found that the front brake lines are bunching up a bit and chaffing due to being lowered. I'm only running 0.5° of neg camber and the front end feels heavier and wants to understeer with the firmer suspension. I'm going to try swapping out the Whiteline front ARB for the stock and see if that if that helps.I also finished my headlight projector retrofit and they are damn bright and don't blind everyone else. Also picked up a TRD rear mount. Just have to add some hangers to make it work with my exhaust.
Fozzie
All sounding awesome there buddy, you need to put up some pics of it lowered
Tercel-R
Working on the front end still...Pics soon enough!Traded a 6 pack of beer for a Momo Champion wheel. Has some light scuffs but is in really good shape. Just have to find a hub kit and a horn button.http://s124.photobucket.com/user/81monte/media/IMG_2292.jpg.html'>
Chris Green
Traded a 6 pack of beer for a Momo Champion wheel. That's the best swap ever LOL
Tercel-R
I certainly wasn't complaining! I think the guy had it for years and just wanted to clear out the shed. He also gave me a shift knob, but it's pretty rough and has a 6 speed pattern on the top. Don't want to confuse the Mrs. if she drive my car lol
Xpect
Well, get yourself a Corolla E11 G6 Gearbox and you can use the knob without confusing anyone
Tercel-R
For a while, I was seriously considering putting in a blacktop with a 6 speed but didn't want to get into cutting the frame and botching the car.
Xpect
Why go that extreme? The 4E Corolla E11 G6 had a gearbox that works plug and play ;)
