Lew91 Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Just been out to remove the cusco rear strut brace off the V as I want to sell it on and get an OEM 3 point one and some dopey arse must of welded it the 2 ends! I removed the centre bar to make life easier, whent to pull off the ends and nothing. Tried a lever bar still nothing, looked a bit closer and there's blue paint around the bracket (top of the strut) which leads me to believe its been welded in. Is it me or are they just a tight fit? I can see this leading to me getting the grinder out Quote
Lew91 Posted July 31, 2013 Author Posted July 31, 2013 I've just been hanging off of it and nothing, I think it's firmly on there. Quote
funny onion Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Sam has a cusco rear strut on his and its a bastard to get on and off because the back end of his is bent as a nine bob note. But a hammer and lever bar usually does the job without too much grief. Quote
Lew91 Posted July 31, 2013 Author Posted July 31, 2013 I shall have to give it a go tomorrow, bloody 10 minute job turns into a pain in the arse! Quote
Addymk2 Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Flexier than wet spaghetti them things, hence why it's bent lol just be careful when you yoink it off you don't take half the threads of your turret mate. Quote
Lew91 Posted August 1, 2013 Author Posted August 1, 2013 I'll grab some pics after work, it's hard to see what's going on under the plastic trim tho. Quote
Lew91 Posted August 2, 2013 Author Posted August 2, 2013 Just been out and trimmed a bit more of the plastic away, and yup some donut has welded the end plates on and painted over them! FFS!!! Quote
lugzy clart Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Looks like this 1 ain't for sale no more :/ Quote
Glanza-Ben Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Get a mini grinder on it and it will cut off and tidy up fine Quote
Lew91 Posted August 2, 2013 Author Posted August 2, 2013 Nope that ones staying put. What ever made some one weld it in I don't know. Quote
shorty Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Yea man grinder ftmfw easily taken off n cleaned up without cuasing any damage to either. Quote
Lew91 Posted August 2, 2013 Author Posted August 2, 2013 Some crazy people out there lol. I was going to take the dynomatting out eventually so I'll try and cut it out then, even that's firmly stuck tho and it weighs a ton. Quote
davehart Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 I've never known anyone to weld their strut brace on before. Maybe he lost the bolts Quote
Lew91 Posted August 2, 2013 Author Posted August 2, 2013 I can't see it, the washers are stuck to the paint so looks like he put the washers and nuts on whilst the paint was wet. Quote
RobSR Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 what 5 head did that lol. Wouldnt be too difficult to get off mind. Quote
Addymk2 Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Not gonna lie... that's some funny shit. Who'd you buy it off? I thought the guy I had my V off was a numptee but thats something else! hahaha Quote
Lew91 Posted August 3, 2013 Author Posted August 3, 2013 Yeah I could get it off easy enough I might get round to it at some point, just unwanted work tho! I got it off some bloke it fleet, it's had a couple of owners in the uk so could of been anyone. I can't see why any one would do all that work tho. Quote
