gorganl2000
our resident hill climb boss mr phil those roads sure look like absolute fun were you running the glanza or gt box?---regarding the 3rd gear that was destroyed earlier
Phil
GlanzaThough I destroyed a gt one earlier in the year.Have a gt box back in now and going to swap to redline shockproof oilPhil
gorganl2000
i tried a mix of redline shockproof and mt90 ...1 litre each in the box i recently took out of the car....it used to have an occasional crunch on 3rd gear (syncro worn) which that oil mix temporarily resolved till i took the box out for an overhaul
Phil
Which shockproof oil did you use? Phil
Ollieh17
Doesn't it say shockproof oil shouldn't be used with syncros? Im looking for a good oil for my charade box to keep things sweet
Phil
Doesn't it say shockproof oil shouldn't be used with syncros? Im looking for a good oil for my charade box to keep things sweet thats the 250w one, they do a shockproof 140w for synchro boxes. Phil
gorganl2000
Which shockproof oil did you use?Phil i used redline heavy shockproof 75w-250 as said before, i used it as a band-aid for a crashing 3rd gear to minimise any noise/crunching until it was removed for a rebuild1 litre mt90 and 1 litre heavy 75w-250 shockproof was my formula i know it was not the best for my syncros in the long term, but it worked great in the short term maybe the lightweight shockproof 75w-140 may be better suited to our gearbox??? as its listed under the manual transmission sectionhttp://www.redlineoil.com/Products.aspx?pcid=7 Edited August 12, 2016 by gorganl2000
gorganl2000
there was a member either on here or ttgt that ran what seemed to be 100% redline shockproof in their racing gearbox,,,but i cant recall who
Phil
Yeah that's the one I have. The lightweight one.And I'll be running it alone 100%Phil Edited August 12, 2016 by Phil
5e colin
holly mo i never knew oil could make crunchy syncro go away is that only a short term fix ( 1 year ) ??
Phil
holly mo i never knew oil could make crunchy syncro go away is that only a short term fix ( 1 year ) ??Well we are talking oil at best that's nearly twice the normal viscosity - And more.A normal heavy (non redline) 140w gear oil causes lay shaft drag and creeping of the car so it's not for everyone. On a set of rollers or axle stand you can warm her up for few minutes before trying to drive her.But apparently the redline stuff removes the need and is much more useable when cold.Phil
