Jamie5414
Has anyone had their n/a head ported & polished? If so, did you feel/see any gains bhp wise? Cheers,Jamie
morgey
If youre lucky you may see a couple of hp. But in all fairnes the n/a head Flows too much for N/a anyway, its the same head as the fte one which can see 300+ without any work.N/a is better with smller ports to Increase air velocity generally speaking

Get hold of some JB weld if you wanna go this route and then just smooth it back with a die grinder.
cherrye10
thanks for the tip. how about reboring block to 1480?, skimming head, aftermarket cams, 4-2-1 exhaust mani, 2.5in exhaust all way to the back, corolla inlet, cone filter and mapping of ecu?
jimmymac101
You may aswell stick a 5efe in if your boring it out to 1480, saves a lot of hassel and you could refresh/rebuild it for peace of mind if you have time and Money James
cherrye10
James, that was my original plan. But 5's are rare here. 4's are by far easier to find
jimmymac101
have you thought of getting one shipped over from here? unsure of that the costs would be so its only a suggestion as i have no clue ID-WORKZ have had a few in the past and hes very good with shipping james
cherrye10
no idea how shipping would be on that. I saw a rear spoiler from here and got a quote from http://shiplowcost.com (a shipping company who boast they have lowest uk-malta tariffs) and they quoted me €77. Let alone for a whole engine! Xpect
That's cheap. I still need to pay for shiping of my front bumper because shipping alone is 100 to germany.
Chris Green
I have mine done, but no noticeable gains. Waste of money really. I might see some gains from it when if put higher lift cams and raise the rev limit.
Jamie1st
Turbo your 4efe, few turboing them now!
Chris Green
Keep it N/A. The 4e-fe is very tunable, as shown by RMSNoel. He has achieved 100bhp using only Toyota Parts. You should check out his build thread.

Chris Green
100 bhp is achievable, keep the air box and standard exhaust. 4-2-1 of a corolla will help too. I think Noel is running an early AFC which can be picked up for about £30 of ebay.
cherrye10
anyone can post the link to his build thread please? thanks
Jamie5414
Turbo your 4efe, few turboing them now! Sounds goooooooooood! Just need 3k for the kit & tuning haha
ryan lang
rmsnoel hasnt made 100bhp, its what hes aiming for. myself also but being in uni ill take alot longer than he does i imagine due to funding ive bought a 5efhe head to port (port being the key word, not making it bigger just smoothing) im hoping to buy a full 5e bottom end aswell but thats another chapter to the book
Chris Green
http://www.ukstarletowners.com/topic/60523-noels-auto-s-100hp-here-i-come/ That's the build thread. I'm pretty sure the 100bhp mark was passed on this or a previous one of Noel's.
daniel_g
Fuck it im gonna do an N/a build next year, find a tidy 82 shell and just use that. Already have the 100ps ECU & Gen1 looms, pink injectors and Gen1 ex mani. It would be rude not too
ryan lang
nope hasnt even had it dyno'd by the looks. i think his old paseo he mentioned was 100+
Xpect
thanks for the tip. how about reboring block to 1480?, skimming head, aftermarket cams, 4-2-1 exhaust mani, 2.5in exhaust all way to the back, corolla inlet, cone filter and mapping of ecu? Motion achieved 115 PS without cams or reboring. Just OBX exhaust mani, skimming, 200cell cat, Turbular intake mani, cold air intake, emanage, green twister filter, I think injectors too. With Corolla E11 intake, Corolla E10 4-2-1 Exhaust, catless or 200cell cat, bigger injectors and better management you should be very near 100bhp for a price of around 1000 £. Skimming and camsand exhaust and you would be near the price of a cheap turbo kit. I would just buy bolt on mods as stated and later upgrade to a turbo with low boost. Turboing a good maintained NA with only bolt on upgrades and stronger valve springs with a low boost will give you good power lower down (opposed to pure turbos like the FTE) and also give a nice power up top. ryan lang
its all in the ECU boys you can bolt on all you like but without the right map it wont do shit thats worth raving about
daniel_g
Whats the Gen3 ECU like then, with the coilpack ? Is that the same as a Glanza S ECU ? Obviously EMB etc. will be better.
ryan lang
not sure, only know one person to play around with the 100ps engine/ecu combo and he kept everything very secretive
daniel_g
Well i'll be doing a bit of playing about with all the N/a JDM gear next year then and see what happens. My 100ps lump is now turbo'd but not running as yet, hoping it copes well though
