mikey4410
of course colin thats not a problem matey. its such a chunky old bugger this new rad haha. we shall see.................................
mikey4410
so today i fitted up the new intercooler and also the new rad , all with custom brackets. first i had to angle grind the old mounts away / unbolt them cleaned and then sprayed chassis brackets lined up and bolted and lastly painted also cleaned and re-sprayed the chassis upper bracket fabricated, sprayed then secured intercooler was to big,so i chopped the core very slighty and made it fit very well. . chopping intercooler intercooler pipes are bit bodged for now as i used of cuts to make up new pipe. hopefully my cooling issues are sorted. . mikey4410
small update on triple core rad ************30mph in fourth, ambient of 14 degrees gives rad temps of 84 degrees**************** Edited May 10, 2015 by mikey4410
mikey4410
now i have the better cooler thats alot more free flowing and bigger i want some real temp measurements from it so that i can see how efficient it is. i will do this by having a sensor before and after the cooler, this will give an idea of what the coolers doing. i tapped into the elbow thats just ONE INCH away from the turbo outlet.i used a bicycle valve and silcone to make a feed for the sensor. then made my sensor "body" out of an old vacuum t-piece. . . this sensor will give an accurate view of temps from turbo BEFORE the cooler does its bit. next up i need to fit the AFTER cooler sender...... 5e colin
the probe looks like it aint deep enough to read the flow ????
mikey4410
yeah it reads well even as it is , but I am lowering it a bit more tonight as I know what u mean the closer the better.theres no way the air wont flow up to the sensor well as even now it changes temps very quickly.cheers for the input colin ! :-D
5e colin
no bother if it was me i would make it so the head of the sensor is inside the intercooler pipe not inside the tire valve
mikey4410
so tonight I finshed modding up the piping for the sensor feed before and after the intercooler.the ambient temp was 15 degrees, the pre temps were 19 degrees after a 10 second blast and the post temps were ambient so the intercoolers working well.I dont doubt the temps will get higher obviously on a trackday etc but i am much happier.also did a periodic check on afrs and still bang on 11.00 afr wot till redline and boost also bang on at .90 bar.:-D
