MPG - Starlet N/A

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've been driving my SR the last two weeks (I don't use it much, I have a works van for work), and noticed it uses a fair amount of fuel....I go to and from my training depot with it when i'm not at work...which is 22 miles away (44 miles round trip)

A full (to the brim) tank lasts me only four days, and it's just on the empty line when I get home on the fourth day. So 176 miles give or take.

Am I wrong in thinking this is a bit shit on fuel?

I've been looking online at the n/a fuel tank capacity, but the info seems to differ from each source...37L, 40L, 42L etc... What's the capacity of the N/A tank?

Jamie

My fuel economy is a bit shit around town but think it is down to glanza mani as i get no real power till 4250-4500 and then goes nuts till the limiter(only if you drive like me,city driving so plenty of 123 gears, much better on a long run with 300 miles or more per tank, have a 1998 sr so should be good comparison.

Thats shocking you need to get that checked out. I cant get mine down that low even when I beat on it.

If you want to work out your mpg, fill up till the pump clicks off once, reset your trip, run it down low fill up again to one click.

Take note of the litres I.e 38.4

Divide by 4.5 (about a gallon)

That gives you how many gallons youve used this tank. 8.533

Now divide the trip reading by this number. Say 176 for example.

176/8.533 = 20.625mpg

Litres/4.5 = gallons used

Miles covered/Gallons used = mpg

On a run id expect about 35-40 from an n/a. Id be checking for leaks if I were you.

Here's my last receipt for fuel, I filled up when it was on the empty mark.

Judging by the receipt and according to what Morgey said above about a 38.4L tank on a starlet, I still had 6.71L left in my tank when it was on the empty mark.

My old N/A was horrendous on fuel. I had the Corolla manifold, induction kit, and exhaust. Fully stripped.. lowered etc.. and £10 would get me 40 miles TOPS!

Mate im getting that now, got a rolla mani and induction kit on there lol

crazy I cba to keep filling up all the time lol

I wasn't saying you had a 38l tank just mearly using that quantity as an example. I've put 37l in mine before. They're are 40-42L tanks roughly

I see, If it is 40L/42L, that means I had quite a bit left in after the empty mark, don't fancy testing it out though :p The fuel gauge must be shit........
