Jamie5414
Hi, I've been driving my SR the last two weeks (I don't use it much, I have a works van for work), and noticed it uses a fair amount of fuel....I go to and from my training depot with it when i'm not at work...which is 22 miles away (44 miles round trip) A full (to the brim) tank lasts me only four days, and it's just on the empty line when I get home on the fourth day. So 176 miles give or take. Am I wrong in thinking this is a bit shit on fuel? I've been looking online at the n/a fuel tank capacity, but the info seems to differ from each source...37L, 40L, 42L etc... What's the capacity of the N/A tank? andyllewellyn
My fuel economy is a bit shit around town but think it is down to glanza mani as i get no real power till 4250-4500 and then goes nuts till the limiter(only if you drive like me,city driving so plenty of 123 gears, much better on a long run with 300 miles or more per tank, have a 1998 sr so should be good comparison.Andy
morgey
Thats shocking you need to get that checked out. I cant get mine down that low even when I beat on it.If you want to work out your mpg, fill up till the pump clicks off once, reset your trip, run it down low fill up again to one click.Take note of the litres I.e 38.4Divide by 4.5 (about a gallon)That gives you how many gallons youve used this tank. 8.533Now divide the trip reading by this number. Say 176 for example.176/8.533 = 20.625mpgLitres/4.5 = gallons usedMiles covered/Gallons used = mpgOn a run id expect about 35-40 from an n/a. Id be checking for leaks if I were you. Chris Green
Yeah, what Morgey has said. You should be getting anywhere between 60-75 miles to £10.
morgey
So you know how bad that is I can get 250-270 on a run at 80-85, used to be better than that before I fitted the civic rad and open trumpets!
Chris Green
Currently sitting on 3/4 of a tank and have done 94 miles - I love intake manifolds & panel filters lol
Zeldoz
My old N/A was horrendous on fuel. I had the Corolla manifold, induction kit, and exhaust. Fully stripped.. lowered etc.. and £10 would get me 40 miles TOPS!
daniel_g
Fuck sake lads, be better off with a turbo'd starlet !!
Zeldoz
Fuck sake lads, be better off with a turbo'd starlet !! This is true. My Glanza is better on fuel than my EP3 Type-R! and my OLD N/A by a million times over.
Rosso321
My old ep80 I got over 45 motor way driving and got 50 mpg doing 50mph on motor way
Jamie5414
I'll check the TB gasket and the vac pipes, Where else would be handy to check? It's a straight run to the depot, so no up and down gears. Once i'm in 5th I keep it at 55 all the way..Not thrashing it one bit
Fozzie
Bloody hell some of these figures are shocking lol! My 5E gets 47/48 on a motorway run and a solid 41/42 for the commute, mostly A & B roads with a bit of town driving at each end
mikey4410
my sportif turbo does 80 miles on £
AdamB
I'm normally getting around the 120-130 mile mark to £20 @ £1.31 a litre.
TomStarlet
Jamie you would be AMAZED at how long you can run after empty on the fuel guage on these cars....15-20mile past empty and your fine! Edited January 14, 2014 by RicePotWom
Jamie5414
Here's my last receipt for fuel, I filled up when it was on the empty mark. Judging by the receipt and according to what Morgey said above about a 38.4L tank on a starlet, I still had 6.71L left in my tank when it was on the empty mark. morgey
Yeah my last receipt was 37.71L the fuel light was still making its mind up to stay on of turn off but was on for the most part. So I'd say theres a max of a gallon left at that point. Lol
