Ollieh17
So mappings round the corner and i am aiming for 230bhp... Spec isZisco ramhorn manifold and down pipe to jperformance 2.5 exhaust heatwrappedTial external wastegateTf035 turboStandard engine To fit:emanage blueTD Fuel pressure regWalbro fuel pump Blitz ebc I chose the tf035 over a td04 as it was never really my plan to map it. And prefered the quicker spool. Now im mapping im concerned it wont make the figures i wont. Am i wrong in thinking the 35 will make similar power as a 04 but cant run as much boost? Should i swap it out for a td04? Edited June 27, 2014 by Ollieh17
TrisK
What boost you gonna run at?
Ollieh17
1-1.1 bar max is 1.2bar so ive read
TrisK
I reckon about 200-215 at the fly at at around 14psi
Ollieh17
I take it a td04 is more than that on the same boost? So little people have used a tf035 its hard to find any info
daniel_g
Just go for it and see what you get, if it drives alright forget about the figure if its lower than you expected.TD04s are good though thats why so many people run them, and no matter what anyone says they are not laggy in a well set up car
Ollieh17
It drives pretty well atm on the standard ecu 0.7bar boost set on a manual boost controller. Fuells spot on on my aem wideband and pulls reall well. I just dont want to waste the mapping for a small end figure in a way
kbond
I've been running a tf035 at 0.9bar at 202hp at the flywheel for 2 years now no problem! I used to run a td04 at 1bar at 220hp same engine
Ollieh17
Is that mapped mate? Seems td04 makes more power then at similar boost levels? Cant see the tf making up the 18hp difference over an extra 0.1bar boost
kbond
They were both mapped at tuning developments Mike said he was impressed with it and it wouldn't take much more to get close to that figure of the td04also spools near 1000rpm quicker
Ollieh17
Yeh the spools awesome. Tbf id be happy with 220 in a tf035 on a good safe map
jimmymac101
Ollie it's not all about figures, having It mapped will make your driving experience better than not mapped, TF spools faster and TD spools slower so your on a winner with less spool just have slightly less power I know which I'd prefere .... Less power better spool Just my opinion but like dan said just go for it James
Ollieh17
Yeh man i know its not ALL about the figures, but everyone still loves them. For me its alot about the money .I reckon it drives great atm just want a bit more. But if im Gonna spend £500 to get 10 or so hp doesnt seem worth it when i love the way it is already lol
jimmymac101
Have you had it dyno'd before ?
Ollieh17
Nope, should do really
jimmymac101
If it's running as nice as you say, get on a rolling road and see what the output in its current form is and make a proper educated decision on ecu and mapping from there save some £££ then James

I will be doing this when the my chasis is stiffer, gives something to aim for rather than numbers pulled out of the air Plus you change your mind like the wind mate If you are thinking about cash it's probably costing you more switching parts than getting on with it and finding out where she is at now. Ollieh17
This is true, but the numbers are based on the large number of other starlets. I know i change loads haha, this is why i dont want to be disappointed when i map her. Already bought the fpr, ecu, ebc and fuel pump now lol. Ill get it rolling road and see what i think
jimmymac101
What a lot of people forget is ..... Every engine is differentTwo identical engines with identical mods being mapped and tuned by the Same person can sometimes have noticeable power differences, you could have good outcome or you could be disappointed :-/ I don't understand how this happens but it does haha Deffo get it rolling roaded first
Ollieh17
Yeh i know this man gonna get it rolling roaded. Thing with glanzas is they are light so hard to work out the power compared to other cars that have been roaded.
