AndyT
Out of interest you didn't buy your 106 off a chap called Steve Sebborn in Colchester, Essex did you?
Robbo
I doubt it was bigger then a 1.3 too, considering that the only bigger engine would be a 1.5 diesel.
tongeymbk
no i didnt buy it from someone in essex!thought the turbos were a 1.3 turbo? anyway not arguing about engine sizes lolits just wasnt any match for the pug i got a mouthfull of obsceneties when i went past him lol dont think he was 2 happy
ilghap
Is it a turbo you raced or just a 1.3 NA??I have raced a 106 GTi with the stock turbo and I managed to kill it.

gaz
yeah ive beat a 206 gti easy peasy.the rallyes are alot lighter and they are quick, but ive beat quicker cars.

DAN_GTT
Saxo VTS *YAWN*106 GTI lmao, leave it out mate ;) Dont even think they do a "light purple" GT anyway (i havent seen one) unless its been repainted
lobotomy
I can't imagine who it would be-- only a few people would have a ukstarletclub.com window sticker... and you'd imagine they'd be on here regularly?? Can I just ask is it a series1 or 2 rallye you have? The series 1's were 1.3's aswell and put out 100bhp if I remember rightly? The series2's Had the 1.6 8v and put out 105BHP -- A standard Glanza or GT should still have you though I'd imagine because they're about the same weight.Compare that to a standard starlet 75BHP SR you'll have a clear advantage. turbo_time
im still running my standard setup and manage to pull away from my mates 137bhp clio 16v so a rally wouldnt be a prob ;)
scutch0
hmmm, dont know of any purple starlets on this site!! the only one ive seen in the uk was dave burwash's old car, but that was a 300bhp monster!!Rich.
whitestarlet
it couldnt have been any bigger than a 1.3 as i managed to overtake it and get about 3 cars lenght ahead of it on a slip road<{POST_SNAPBACK}>just a thought he wasnt braking for the end of the slip road was he????
*Toymota*
cant wait to get me glanza now! hopefully in the next 3 months!!
DAN_GTT
Maybe he wasnt even trying, at the end of the day why would you even waste fuel on a french car to prove its faster, you just dont need to! lol
turbo_time
what dan said
gaz
Maybe he wasnt even trying, at the end of the day why would you even waste fuel on a french car to prove its faster, you just dont need to! lol <{POST_SNAPBACK}>didnt you race one the other week? lol
AndyT
He said it was a stripped 106rallye with a GTI engine conversion.A standard gti engine is around 130bhp? I should think that a stripped 106rallye weighs no more than 800kg?So would prob be a good match with a Standard or slightly modded turbo starlet but it would no way have rinsed it, as others have said it must have been a 1.3n/a starlet.
scutch0
hmm, depends which gti engine... if its a 106 gti engine it'll be about 120 bhp. Rich.
BlackTarw
Perhaps it was like nanglebadgers one? 1.3 SR? I'm guessing a 106 rallye with a gti engine would be pulling low 7s to 60, alot faster than a stock SR, but against a 1.3 turbo, doubtful especially as most of the members cars are modified.Mind you they could have fluffed a gear change or something and are shouting "BOLLOCKS!" I know I would be
scutch0
lol too true!!
