Rmcleish71
Hi! My name is Ryan and i am 16 years old. I am currently refurbishing a 1997 Toyota Glanza whilst juggling the joys of 5th year at high school. I bought the car back in August 2014 and it was in a bad way. The back discs were virtually non-existant, the engine had various problems, the interior was a disgrace and the bodywork was dog rough (with a side of some crash damage). Here is the car when i bought it: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ifr1f3br654z4q1/Photo%2010-08-2014%205%2034%2008%20pm.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/hn4jxn0nzr424hu/Photo%2010-08-2014%201%2035%2048%20pm.jpg?dl=0 The first thing i did was scrub the car for hours with raw steam cleaner fluid to remove what seemed like years of built up grime and oil. Then I power washed the engine bay to remove all the nasty build up. It was a hard task to remove all this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/f83u1vtq9yb6k9h/Photo%2026-12-2014%205%2002%2001%20pm.png?dl=0 Next i fitted brand new blue print rear discs and pads on the rear and ABC drilled and grooved pads with yellow stuff pads on the front. Both rear wheel bearing were replaced at this time also. After this i removed and refurbished my FMIC and removed what seemed like endless layers of patchy underseal. The intercooler came up rather smart after a few coats of silver paint. The finished product was not to bad: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ojobcrntgoju6nk/Photo%2011-08-2014%208%2056%2042%20pm.jpg?dl=0 Next i began to investigate the few rust bubbles on the front wings and then replaced the smashed indicator lense. A few weeks later i fitted my custom intake composed of various samco hoses and a genuine HKS Mushroom filter. Looks very smart! After this the car was sent off to BCM auto services in Motherwell were almost every gasket and seal was replaced as well as new plugs, fluids, as well as various other items. The car was then brought back for a few weeks before being sent off to a bodywork to have all the body straightened, crash damage repaired, new spoiler fitted (old one was ripped off outside the previous owners house), minimal rust removed and it was also treated to a full body respray. Here it is leaving my unit: https://www.dropbox.com/s/shdyfsl2toxyimk/Photo%2026-12-2014%205%2001%2054%20pm.png?dl=0 After some work:https://www.dropbox.com/s/cgul50ob6wz1ds8/Photo%2024-01-2015%2012%2004%2040%20pm.png?dl=0 The car was away for the best part of three months and did not return until early february, looking like a completely different vehicle: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7t8fyqn0o9xih72/Photo%2002-03-2015%207%2053%2024%20pm.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/hfgfq8700mwlezz/Photo%2002-03-2015%207%2045%2005%20pm.jpg?dl=0 It was then my job to fit the shed full of parts i had bought over the christmas period: The engine bay now looks much better: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6h58gs94bjtqsez/Photo%2002-03-2015%207%2045%2013%20pm.jpg?dl=0 A new steering wheel and gear knob especially improved the appearance of the interior - i have bucket seats and harnesses put in but I am very busy with school at this moment, I will try to get some rails adapted soon : https://www.dropbox.com/s/xwqu09pzwyzqlan/Photo%2002-03-2015%207%2046%2010%20pm.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/nh8shj12er7t8p4/Photo%2002-03-2015%207%2045%2059%20pm.jpg?dl=0 The car looked so much better with the addition of a genuine spoiler : https://www.dropbox.com/s/ajwmliihvxv49tb/Photo%2002-03-2015%207%2046%2022%20pm.jpg?dl=0 The alloys were touched up and had the centre caps removed before adding the new Bloxx wheel nuts (these will do until I get white rota grids) : https://www.dropbox.com/s/gspzhbcmu8map7j/Photo%2002-03-2015%207%2046%2045%20pm.jpg?dl=0 On saturday i stripped out the rear and boot interior as i plan on running only two seats but left in the seat belts and brackets in so i have the option to put them back in. I then tidied all the loose wiring and washed the area with boiling hot water. I hope to have the boot area painted in the near future: https://www.dropbox.com/s/pz3g32qclejl96k/Photo%2002-03-2015%207%2045%2033%20pm.jpg?dl=0 School exams are approaching so the glanza will not be receiving much attention from now until the end of May. However, after this i have massive plans and an 8 week school holiday to earn money and focus on my car. Next up Magnecor Ht leads, HKS plugs, Greddy e-mange and remap. KEEP COMING BACK TO THIS THREAD. I HAVE MASSIVE PLANS!
Rmcleish71
tonight i stripped down the front properly, i fitted my front tow strap to the crash bar and began to loosen the bolts on my manifold. At the weekend i plan to give the car a wash and focus on the engine bay. i plan on removing my manifold and clean my turbo before painting and heat wrapping my manifold. Should be a busy weekend! https://www.dropbox.com/sc/fn8c57ml81jhrx7/AAAjQ7FnSFNfgRCwVq7i-0_ia

Rmcleish71
Not been on this in a while, not been up to much other than a few bits and bobs, latest buys have been a racing snap off system & i have resolved all the problems with my fueling issue having installed sytec fuel pressure regulator & walbro 255 fuel pump as well as a full service changing to fuchs racing oil and i am amazed with difference. i have also installed my bucket seats and harnsses (only a temp thing until i can afford corbeua/bride) i have also removed my rocker and polished it and heat wrapped manifold. Last week i had the car at its first track day and was amazed at how quick they are (owned the car for a year but never had it out my unit or driveway) was contemplating selling but can't do it any more after feeling the power! one issue that came up was the horrendous turbo lag so my next purchases are an ecu and map as we'll as some coilovers and other goodies! any other ideas or suggestions let me know! some recent pictures: https://www.dropbox.com/home?preview=IMG_5781.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/home?preview=IMG_5894.JPG
