Flaminsam
Hey guys and girls. Small update for you. Been a little busy this time. The engine is now bolted in place with the shafts in and new gearbox oil. I've re wired half of the bay and removed a lot of dead wiring. Also I've bought a three gauge pod for the dash (universal) that I've had to cut and shape to make it fit properly. I've now fitted my wings (thanks charl 😍) and fitted an egt sensor to my exhaust manifold. Loads still to do but at the moment I'm happy with the progress. More to come! That's all for now folks. Hopefully a bigger update next time as il be finishing off the wiring for the gauges and possibly putting the interior back together.
Flaminsam
Hey guys and girls. Long overdue update is here. Plenty has gone on and I'm going to attempt to tell you all about it. Firstly the wiring of the gauges. Finally managed to get everything working as it should. I've minimised the wiring as much as possible to make space behind the dash. So when they were done I decided to carry on with the engine. So near but yet so far at this point. I decided to spray my rocker cover black as a bit of contrast with the bay. So now the engine is in I decided I needed to get some power to it. So I decided to refit the battery in the boot. I've also fitted a master switch that needs locating somewhere at a later time. That's about it for pictures for now. But today il be fitting roll cage, rest of exhaust, front seats and harnesses and hopefully having a drive down the road. Exciting stuff!! rob_bower
Looks mean in the rear view mirror. Edited August 18, 2015 by rob_bower
Flaminsam
Cheers guys and girls ;) currently the rear bumper is off and the front will be following it this evening. Charl has ever so kindly offered to spray them for me for an upcoming show this Sunday. While the front is off I will be making a splitter that will bolt to the underside of the car. I will take photos of the process this time (I will try to remember) and see how it looks one of my friends has offered to make it out of fibreglass if I can make a template for him. Should be interesting 😋 Watch this space!!!
funny onion
The bumpers may look worse after i've sprayed them than they do now haha. Don't forget about the aero spats!
Flaminsam
Ooh yea thanks for reminding me about the spats! Just a little something to finish off the back end a little I need to sort tracking out and my camber at some point in the future but il have to take it to work to do that really. Wouldn't mind also lifting the front about 20mm so the splitter won't catch on everything! 🙈

jiggaman_16
Do u still have the power steering setup on the engine?
Flaminsam
Roach, I'm still using it buddy ;) making an under tray at some point soon so need to trace around it to fab one up Jigga, I've removed the power steering and gone to a manual steering rack from an ep80. Was a little bit of a pain to do as the steering columns are different so had to swap the shafts from inside each steering column to keep the adjustable steering wheel height. I have photos somewhere of the difference. Il see if I can find them at some point.

Flaminsam
Not entirely. These cars weigh as much as a soggy paper bag so I don't see a real need for power steering. Plus it's less to go wrong in the future
Flaminsam
Well it was a sad day last week as another ep82 went to the great big scrapyard in the sky. A moment of silence please .........Any way moving swiftly on the second show I took the new starlet too, hull motor show. Was a good day out and plenty of cars to see (mainly bloody vauxhalls!) While I was there I noticed that I could do with some proper bonnet stays. A slight breeze and I could hear the fibreglass cracking on the standard bonnet stay (fibreglass wings) So I created these from a bit of old clothes rail.....Also I smoothed and painted an inlet manifold as the other one looked out of place :/ The ports were cleaned out and the inlet manifold decontaminated before fitting That's about it for now. Il have a few more updates after jae all being well. See you all there soon! 🚗💨 Edited September 7, 2015 by Flaminsam
