Picked up a complete 4efte this evening. Bought it blindly for 100 euro with a bottom end knock. Stripped it down and found a hole going from the bottom of cylinder 1 to 2 and it has spun a rod bearing massively.

Semi stripped

Good news is that the head is okay, cams are good.

Plan now is to use the crank and block from my FE and use the 4EFTE head and rods, Pistons.

Pistons and rods are okay, bar rod 3 which is warped and scored. The end cap won't go back on and the piston is sticking.

Haha can imagine looks like the bottom end proper shat its self lol

Yeah it's full on mangled :p had the Pistons looked over and they're fine. Will be cleaning the head tomorrow and start making things look tidy. Then in summer I'll drop the FE and pull what I need them hopefully I'll have an apprenticeship starting in September to fund the build :D

Got loads done today. Started off by looking for gunk. Except no where had it so I settled for some stuff with a funny name........post-12017-0-76895700-1464369610_thumb.j

Cleaned the head&cams and painted the head silver along with the inlet mani.

And yes, I marked my lifters for those of you wondering :ppost-12017-0-96621300-1464369909_thumb.j

Whilst all this was happening I was soaking my Pistons and rods in diesel. After 4 hrs I took them out, degreased them and this is how they came out. post-12017-0-61624700-1464370003_thumb.jpost-12017-0-22256700-1464370034_thumb.jpost-12017-0-92151600-1464370092_thumb.j

Next I pulled everything left on the block off and removed the crank caps. Main bearings Weren't too bad but rod #3 took a nice shaving off the crankpost-12017-0-10513600-1464370212_thumb.j

Riiiiiiiiight. Because those holes had rough edges I thought that the engine was knackered as I couldn't imagine Toyota leaving it like that i imagined it would be smooth, anyway after taking the crank out I found another and looked at the shapes properly and they were identical, turns out it's all Bueno and I was just being a mong not knowing it was a factory finish :D
