funny onion
Hey guys after some advice if I may!Recently fitted a wepr top mount kit and a freshly rebuilt TF035. Long story short it's much laggier than it should be. I've had the wastegate off, lapped the seal in, checked all intercooler pipes etc. it boosts up to 0.9 bar as it should be seems to take forever to get there. Penny washer is definitely clamped shut. No obvious boost leaks- checked all pipe work and wastegate.Any ideas on what to check next would be much appreciated!Goes very well on boost but should be spoiling much earlier, don't see full boost until around 4000rpm ish?Cheers! patman
Well I know you know your stuff funny onion, but I had this exact on the ct9 and turned out to be the actuator not set right, but I'm guessing knowing you, you have checked the already
td04 turbo
Intercooler pipe work any longer being a top mount?
funny onion
Well it's externally gAted but used to run 0.9 bar fine on my td04 with a vac signal from the turbo to the bottom port but now only boosts 0.5 with the vac signal but 0.9 without a signal? Intercooler is much much smaller than before so if anything it should boost quicker? Pipe work is about the same tbh.
5e colin
im seeing 1bar 1.1 bar around 3400/3600 rpm tmic , that gives you a aim i geuse your gate is leaking maybie the membrane is ripped ??
funny onion
Had it stripped yesterday and all looked ok. It's a cheap one but never ever had an issue. Might have to invest in a better one but I'll be gutted if the issue is the same
JayJ
Mani - turbo gasket fully sealing? Split vac line somewhere?
funny onion
There are no vac lines on currently - it only boosted to 0.5 with the vac line from the housing to the wastegate (even though the spring pressure is 0.9 and has been mapped etc on the previous set up so no issues with the spring). The turbo and manifold were brand new/freshly skimmed. Used a brand new Subaru gasket. Totally stumped. Lol
5e colin
no vac line to it ??? is your air feed nipple closed then or open on the compressor housing ??
daniel_g
Have you got a vac line from the compressor housing to the bottom port on the ewg?
Essexglanza
Off topic but may need you're help when my setup arrives 😉. What does the boost gauge vac say when stationary ? If you block off the compressor wheel and force air into the system through the vac line, see if it holds the pressure,
ROTABOOST
If there's no obvious leaks of exhaust or charge pipes bin that gate and get a Turbosmart or Tial. Had one of those eBay "demon Motorsport" gates on mine and it was bloody awful. Leaky and always used to stick open. Do you have a screamer pipe, if so you should hear it leaking past at idle. Matt1878
This issue is now fixed. After closer inspection char discovered that she had a rather large hole in her intercooler pipe work.It had been rubbing on the gearbox mount.
funny onion
Yeah as matt said^^^ I only had time to check the turbo side intercooler pipes before jae. the bend that goes down in front of the gearbox mount had a massive hole and a few smaller holes in it :/ Replaced it now and all is peachy! I'll put a photo of the pipe up tonight haha
