Amjad Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Nah I think it uses a 1.8 bottom end (7afe?) Quote
morgey Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Yeah 7age is a 4age head with a 7afe block, crank and rods with 4age pistons. But hasslegren are the guys that build TRD engines. The rocker cover you see on that engine is from a formula Atlantic race engine. If you can find one 2nd hand they set you back £1000/1500 at least lol Plus you couldnt rev the 7a bottom end to 10k+ so all of that is custom stuff too. Quote
glanzagee Posted December 13, 2015 Author Posted December 13, 2015 Formula Atlantic engine 4age block 83mm stroke crank 83mm pistons 1800ccThis is the hasselgren way Quote
morgey Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Im pretty sure this is now a 7a. He used to run a 1600 4a but went upto 1800. I guess it could be made to an 1800 with the 4a block custom crank and pistons but im sure i read it was a 7a. The HKS 5age kit used a longer stroke crank but that required grinding of the block for clearance and that wasnt an 1800cc Quote
morgey Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 A quote from an interview with him"Last years engine was your off the shelf Atlantic spec 4age, this one is much the same just built around a 7age bottom end with a few tricks" Quote
gorganl2000 Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 (edited) one off the best if not is the best handling starlet out there !!!! very intresing setup lots of thought, engineering, fabrication, time, money, etc has gone into this car.....i'm from the same island and watch it live on the rally stages however, i dont think this kind of build is for the average road/track/rally ep82/91 car....i'd imagine its quite costly and maybe not necessary for the average person though i agree its a dream build we would appreciate as our own still Edited December 21, 2015 by gorganl2000 Quote
