Dansstarlet1996
while having a look about for what to do next, found on the Zisco website that there is a harness extension for the EP91 and EP82, says it is needed for a Greddy emanage but also a Unichip piggy back ECU? I've got a link for the unichip website if anyone is interested, can anyone shed some light on them for me? I've never heard of them being used before? Unichip- http://www.unichip.us/categories/8-Tuner-items-and-flux/products Zisco harness- http://www.ziscoperformance.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=11&products_id=36 (check product description) Thanks Dan Edited January 10, 2016 by Dansstarlet1996
olidaviesuk
Lots of different brands - all do the same thing, and intercept injector/airflow signal to modify the std map to run with your engine config/tune HKS - FCONHaltec interceptorECUTEK Apexi are all other makes - some are a lot better than other, pretty much depends which one your mapper is most comfortable using and can achieve best results with. Dansstarlet1996
So is it preference really? Or is it certain mappers can only do specific ecus?
Dansstarlet1996
And is Emanage used more because its considered to be the best?
morgey
Another the corolla tsport guys use is a det3
Dansstarlet1996
Are they all universal ecus? And would just need wiring work, or do certain ones work and not others, I read one of the other threads from yesterday that was about aftermerket ecus in an ep82 and the idea I got from it was that some use standard sensors and others don't? Thanks Dan
morgey
Piggy backs generally dont look at sensors they just change the input or output signal itself, which means they are usually a universal item.
5e colin
complete setup of a pfc fcon is very good to self tune its fool proof to set up either

I dont im afraid, i just know they common in use with t-sports. Not sure how compatible they are as they use afm rather than map but its something to look at.
Dansstarlet1996
Ah okay I think I get it, so why do people use Greddy more? I just need one that's simple enough and will up my power a little

5e colin
yes you tune with a small screwdriver on turn knobs simple as job al you need wiht it is a wideband and egt gauge and of you go ( no laptop or special skills needed ) they take bigger injectors to :) like this http://www.ukstarletowners.com/topic/94499-370cc-ipm-gcc-bcc-pfc-fcon-unit-swaps/
Dansstarlet1996
so does that plug into the original loom? and would that fit an NA or just a turbo? so you turn the dial and it adjusts the air fuel mixture?? sorry for all the questions, im still new to the computer side of things
5e colin
these plug into 4efte loom only !!! it plugs in between the 4efte oem ecu and the loom yes thats basicly it turn the dials and air feul ratios will change simple
Dansstarlet1996
ah thats a cool way of doing it shame do any of them fit a 4efe or is that why everyone uses the emanage?
5e colin
never seen 1 for 4efe sadly
Dansstarlet1996
ah thats a shame :/ il look into a Greddy then, seems to be the only one people have got to work on the 4efe

I just need one that's simple enough and will up my power a little seems greddy is popular with ep82/91 because over the years members have gotten good results and more importantly reliability using emu/emb they have been used on street, track/strip, circuit on the gts/glanzas for the average build 4e/5e, emanage ultimate is usually enough to get the job done----tune fuel and ignition, datalog, raise rev limit, "launch control/step limiter", run auxiliary items using separate map, etc now if you are building a dedicated monster and/or have access to reasonable tuners and well priced standalones----then staondalone systems start to look more and more attractive
Dansstarlet1996
all i need is a simple piggy back ecu, just to up the power a bit to make it abit more fun and able to show up some bigger stuff, dont want to turbo it as i wont be able to insure it. gorganl2000
if n/a....i'd stick with the emb....relatively cheap and should do all you want but in all honesty...i dont think you will see much gains even with a piggyback
