sorry for sounding dim but what metal ring are you talking about? Gasket?

The you would usually connect to your bov! When I got the turbo it never had the nipple to connect to the wastegate so I've modified one off a boost controller to fit and I'm thinking it could be that. I have a few things to rule out! I'm glad you clarified leaving to top nipple atmosphere as I wasn't quite sure :-)
-
I'm not sure what spring it's got, I tried with the wastegate both ways with no joy!
-
The only impreza I'd have is the 22b other than that evo for sure I've owned a baby evo 1800gsr and that was rapid and reliable! I've been in my mates old evo 9 witch was 410 bhp and that was unreal in every gear but expect to be putting £40 every two days!

I've blocked off the vacuum pipe on the intake manifold could that cause any problems? I'll test for a boost leak tomorrow. Do I leave the top nipple on the wastegate to vent to the atmosphere?
-
I've just finished fitting a forged engine and turbo with external wastegate I've just taken it for a spin and it doesn't boost! I had to but a vacuum nipple on the turbo as it didn't have one and I needed one to hook the wastegate up! At first I left the top nipple on the wastegate to vent in the atmosphere and just had the bottom one connected to the turbo. The best way I can describe the feeling from driving is it feels like a intercooler pipe has popped off it stutters and hesitates and the exhaust pops! Any help or ideas on my something I've missed?

Cheers for the comments lads ;-) just a couple pictures of the engine fitted can't find three nuts and bolts to go through my exhaust other than that it's all ready to be fired up :-D

Just an update! I'd been having trouble getting the gearbox back on the two top bolts went in no problem but the third one at the lower front was being a bitch, So I put up a quick post to get some advice and tips needless to say I got a quick response and everyone was helpful, I started again the next day trying the simple things first and lucky it turn out it was the metal guard behind witch was slightly bent so I undone the two bolts and gave it a wiggle to free it up and the bolt then went in fine! Just need to connect the wiring loom to the engine and attach a few hoses then it should be back on the road this weekend fingers crossed. I'll post some pics when it's running and I've given it a good clean.

Gearbox fitting issues
Mikeyallgood85 replied to Mikeyallgood85's topic in Drivetrain & Transmission
Good news the gearbox is on and lined up :-) it turned out to be the back guard was bent! So I loosened the two top bolts off got a set of grips to pull the guard enough to get the last bolt though the guard and it threaded in perfect ;-) thanks for all the quick responses and help lads much appreciated -
I wouldn't tighten it all the way as it will just piss out on the edges if you have given it enough time to set! as mentioned let it set for 24hr and then tighten it all up.

I bent the dowl witch was stopping it going on the first time round! it's looks flush tbh I think the clutch may be out of alignment with all lifting and twisting the box on and off trying to get it on, but I wouldn't have thought the gearbox would go on if the clutch was out alignment or am I wrong? -

When you say "taps" are you talking about the dowls? As I've removed them! -
I'm having trouble with fitting my gearbox the two top bolts are in and tight but the one closest to the front/bottom of the car doesn't seem to be lined up witch is baffling me, at first I thought it was hitting the back plait so I used a small bolt to see witch side it was overlapping/catching on. on the side where the bolt goes in it seemed to be overlapping/catching the side closest to the passenger! I then did the same but though the other side and it was the opposite! If the spline has gone through the clutch and the two top bolts went in fine why would the bottom bolt not go in? Any idea would be appreciated. Cheers Mike

That's very impressive work dude looks mint! it will be nice to see how it turns out. -
My fucking gearbox is doing my head in, I've taken out all the dowels after a day and a half of piss assing around trying to line it all up only to find I'd bent the dowel and I've now knocked my clutch out of line. I swear I feel like setting the thing on fire!!! Oh and members of my family asking have you done it yet has been passing me off!! “if I'd f#cking done it I'd be jumping for joy" rant over

Cheers mate I can't wait to get it running hopefully I'll have the engine in tomorrow.

I've owned my glanza for a little over a year now in that time I've been loving every minute of driving it. The spec of the car was pretty standard apart from the odd mod, it had done 59,000 miles, p1 alloys in white, Defi oil temp and boost gauges, Lowered on springs (not 100% on make) Apexi N1 exhaust system Hks ssqv. What I've purchased in the first year. Blitz access ecu, Blitz nur spec r exhaust and de-cat, Jperformence fmic. So having fitted all the goodies I was on my way have from work and got stuck behind a bus going very slow up a steep hill, I overtook him to only notice I had a load of smoke coming out the exhaust at high revs (bad times) the following day me and my brother done a compression test and behold I'd f*cked a piston ring or four! across three cylinders it was reading 120 and the fourth was 80! Needless to say I was gutted. After searching for a few weeks I bought one from Gordon on here along with a turbo kit and coilovers. Current spec. Full Forged engine K24 turbo with trial ex wastegate and screamer, BC coilovers, Jperformence fmic, Blitz access ecu, Blitz nur spec r exhaust, Hks ssqv, Defi gauges. Thing's to come. Hks super air filter, Filter relocation piping, Air/fuel gauge, Rrfpr (sard) new front disc brakes and pads. I'm in the process of fitting the engine now so here are a few pictures for now. I will upload more when it's all fitted but that's how she sits for now.
