  1. shame, ah well, dont think its possible to wire one in either if it doesnt have it programmed into the ecu already??
  2. but you cant tune through it im guessing? was looking into OBD tuning as one of the guys at work has had it done on his Megane sport and made some good gains in power and economy etc just wondered if it was do able or not
  3. wondering if a 1999 EP91 starlet has a OBD port? had a look but couldnt see one Thanks Dan
  4. Il look into doing that then i think, i have a feeling its rings or valve stem seals but without taking the head off i dont know how else to check, so thats probably my best bet
  5. Yea smokes out of 1st and 2nd under load but nothing more than that, smokes bad when its up to temp, puffs out a big cloud if im waiting at lights for more than a minute or so as i pull away. at the moment its on 10w-40, it goes from max to min on the dipstick in 4-5weeks at the moment aswell. I've got toyo proxes on speedlines atm gainzy and they seem alright bit on the heavy side but good enough for the minute
  6. Cheers Gainzy, its burning oil so just trying to find ways of ruling out certain things such as oil in inlet mani etc :/ any good mods for an na that are worth some time and money?
  7. what set ups do you guys have on your NAs for a catch can and hoses? and anyone able to recommend a can or a type of hoses to go with it? Thanks Dan
  8. been having a fiddle around trying to work out why my na is burning loads of oil, took the throttle body off and it looks like the pcv valve has be dripping oil into the corolla inlet manifold? which is causing some little puffs now and again, is this a common issue? and would a catch can solve my problem?? Thanks Dan
  9. not great pictures but you can see what i mean with the oil going along the grooves of the rocker cover
  10. the oil leak plot thickens! had a quick look this morning and noticed there was a small amount of oil coming from around the PCV valve, saw it wasnt pressed all the way in as the hose is to short i think took it out for 30mins or so and took another look when i got home, and there was slightly more running along the grooves of the rocker cover, could be part of the oil leak issue? also took the hose off the rolla manifold end and it looked pretty dark and black in there, so could be getting into the manifold and going through? think its more wishful thinking than anything else tbh but cant do
  11. ah sorry colin im still learning my way around it awesome, just thought id check to see what would happen incase there was something else i needed to do!
  12. what do you mean by a block vent? (sorry if its obvious) http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h291/keirz/000_0099.jpg thats the bit i was talking about, the little breather on the corner? i have a similar airbox to the one in the picture and wondered if im better doing a similar set up or keeping the hose that connects into the pipe between the airbox and throttle body?
  13. im sure this has been covered before but u cant find a solid answer, on a 4EFE engine, would putting a small breather filter on the corner of the block do any harm or good or make no difference?? loads of honda stuff on the web but cant find anything i want to relate to a starlet Thanks Dan
  14. Thats the one westley! yea that little breather filter on the corner on mine is a pipe leading into the intake pipe in between the airbox and the throttle body
  15. on a more positive note next plan is to add on a air filter/induction kit, from what I've found on the interweb and on here it looks like the breather pipe that goes back into the induction pipe (not the manifold one) can be swapped out for a small breather filter? anyone know where the little sensor from in the side of the airbox goes? im guessing plumb it into the new pipe work somewhere, which was the plan! so just need to get myself a few silicone connectors and a cold air feed pipe and she'l be nearly sorted engine bay wise! this is the breather filter thing i was talking about
  16. when it starts up theres the tiniest little puff of smoke thats there for less than a second! by the time I've walked from the front seat to the back of the car its gone! and when im driving I've tried all sorts to make it smoke and cant see anything out the rear view mirror? only reason i know it does it is one of the guys from work followed and said when i went over a junction in 2nd it smoked a little but I've never been able to recreate it tbh
  17. done 64,000 pete, so not loads and loads but again not really low either. had the head gasket done less than 3000 miles ago, changed both exhaust and inlet mani within the last 2 months aswell. Cheers Westley il have a look havent got loads of money so il have to make a decision on whats best
  18. Il look into it deprnds if its cheaper to fix it or drop a new engine in! Il have to check
  19. il look into it, see what is most affordable!
  20. its just a little annoying :/ and its just if i did get a new engine id have to fit it and have it up and running within a weekend, and not sure how easy it is to drop a new one in?
  21. So over the last 2 months I've had to top up my oil twice back up to full, checked today and it was near two thirds of the way down the dipstick, last topped up 3 and a half weeks ago! one of the guys from work was behind me on the way home the other day and he said it smoked when i pulled away from a junction, I've tried to make it smoke and look in the rear view mirror but i cant see a thing tbh. i think its either valve seals or piston rings? but I've also heard the PCV valve can cause smoke but i highly doubt it would cause that much oil loss? its already had the h
  22. Unfortunately this may end up being cut short as i cant repair its oil burning problem so far it went from top of the dipstick to the minimum in 2 -3 weeks! Had the headgasket done already, doesnt smoke on start up apart from a little blye puff thats gone by the time you can walk to the back of the car! Think its valves or piston rings, both large jobs unfortunately as its my daily makes life difficult! Only Time will tell how things go
  23. Thanks Pete just did it in the garage over a weekend with cans, made up a little polethene spray booth and did it in there off the car tbh longest bit was taping it all up!
  24. Il look into it i might put one on next time the clutch goes
