  1. A few small mods before next race involved a higher pressure radiator cap and larger expansion tank. To try to stop it spitting out coolant after a hard run. Next event involved a trip further north to golspie in the highlands Always a great track which involved 2 different track layouts changing from Saturday to Sunday's race. Usual class entry mostly clios but a few others inc a well specced Honda ep3 on itb Good entry in class of 10 again so plenty to battle with. Usually I would be battling my Auldman in his clio too , however he had gearbox issues.
  2. Clutch noise sounds like a proper race car now 😎 You must be better than me at sticking on reflective tape , can I get it to stick
  3. Surrounded by my main competition itb clio's 😁 It's one of my local hillclimbs and with 10 in my class a good battle was to be had. It was a 2 day event over Saturday and Sunday. It was challenging on the Saturday due to it raining all day and found it hard to stop wheel spin but was learning each run resulting in 4th in class Sunday proved to be completely different with sunshine and a drying track . Track improved all day leaving the last run the one that would count . Resulting with the starlets first ever trophy and me very pleased with 2nd in class of the 10
  4. Well update time!!! Been a while so long overdue an update , the cars been tucked up all winter with no gearbox fitted due to other commitments. However car was dragged out beginning of May and set about fitting gearbox with plate diff in preparation for it's first hillclimb in May. After a hectic couple of weeks I had a working car with new mot and tax. Sent away for my new msa licence and all was go 😎 What a difference with the plate diff compared to the Atb diff previously fitted! New Extreme tyres probably helped a lot from the 2 year old tyres I had previously used
  5. This is looking pretty sweet now , nice work wheels suit it Keep the pics and updates coming
  6. Winter upgrades in progress Gearbox casing was blasted via tiny ball bearings after I had spent 4hrs cleaning all the grime off it. It's being rebuilt with new Kaaz plate diff and new synchros along with new bolts for casing etc as my OCD kicked in lol These will be a spare set of front wheels a bit heavy but swapped for other old wheels I had
  7. Last race of the season has been and gone so long overdue update required Last race was a sprint local to myself using a go kart track which is one of my favourites It was a good track to get a feel for the new spring setup and extra power with the new turbo . It was a 2 day event and my main competition was the usual clan of clios in our class The car went well over both days but was mainly struggling with wheel spin as the quaife diff was struggling with the twisty infield . But in general the car went fautlessly apart from lack of grip It was pretty neutral h
  8. I've done another 2 races since last post including a few more issues mainly gearbox woes due to using unknown condition old boxes
  9. Cheers I bought a sleeve 1meter long from ebay , they came from China in under a week
  10. Well alots happened after my last post I did get gearbox all together again along with suspension & ecu . I even managed to fit a new hybrid turbo as Well which I had rebuilt by Midland turbos . It turned out to be a TD12 hybrid happy days . On refitting of gearbox i found a terrible noise from gearbox area which stopped when clutch depressed. Aaaaargh wasnt happy after spending 2 weeks doing box and turbo , so thought bugger it sent it to rolling road to get map tweak for new turbo and if it survived i would take it to race . The rolling road went well making 224bhp now at the same boost
  11. After getting it home again I realised I had a big boost leak with engine movement causing my only wiggens clamp to leak. Using a smoke machine when i flexed intercooler showed up the leak .Should of done away with it the same time as the others , but atleast i should have no excuses for next race. The one time I'm happy to find a leak I then set about replacing my spring rates from the original 6kg front and 4kg rear . There much harder all round now that's for sure Decided to send my me221 ecu back to get a small issue with clutch switch sorted as I'm wanting to u
  12. After this I was all set for it's first outing at Alford Sprint which is a small figure of 8 sprint local to myself . Maybe not the most challenging but the more seat time the better. There was a good entry in our class consisting of 11 mainly all clios . The morning started well being dry I used it to get a feel for the car and there wasn't any heroics . Car felt well but was clearly obvious the suspension was too soft causing wheel spin even with quaife diff. Due to the inside wheel lifting around the hairpins at each end. The brakes etc felt great and initial turn in was promising. As
  13. Cheers hope so Thought it about time I updated considering I've competed in my first race with it After rebuilding the gearbox I decided the rear mounting needed modding to stop any chance of this happening again. So got my mate to water jet out a plate to pick up on bellhousing bolts that are unused Also converted the rear casing to studs After getting it back together sent car for some stickers to go with my Auldmans race car . Not to everyone's taste but it's different
  14. I am currently running a ct12 hybrid but am thinking a tf035 would be better suited . I'm very interested in the difference in spool between the 4cm and 6cm? As I'm looking for a turbo sized for 230-240bhp for a sprint hillclimb car.
  15. Nice ! Hopefully see you at some sprints with mine What's your plans with it , is it pretty standard just now?
  16. Well that didn't go according to plan with just 2 weeks till my first race While adjusting front suspension noticed something dripping. Which turned out to be gear oil from gearbox casing. Turns out the rear gearbox mount parted way with gearbox in turn cracking casing !! So currently car has gearbox stripped ready to transfer into spare casings . Sent spare gearbox casings away and had them blasted in prep for rebuild. I will also be adding extra bracing to stop this happening again
  17. Loving this build ! Very interested to see what it makes with TD hybrid ct9. As I'm tempted with one as currently running a ct12 hybrid see how this compares
  18. Instead of sorting out the suspension before my first race I've been adding stickers As the Scottish hillclimb / sprint class I'm entering is known as the clio class as there's so many of them lol. I decided to add this sticker for banter
  19. I agree with both of you , this will involve a bit of trial and error mainly the discs . The main reason for developing rear brakes were for the weight saving over standard. We have adapted a set of these brakes on my Auldmans race clio 172 which have been used the last 3 years with no issues. However he does use different discs to these. I think using them as a daily road car wouldn't be ideal , but for my needs and minimal mileage should work . I hope
  20. I'm not sure about selling them as kits need to do testing first I'm affraid
