Vibration after fitting the Corolla Manifold
Jozinobi replied to DavidAshton's topic in N/A E-Series Engine Discussions
It was so long ago since I fitted mine, but whichever bracket I used, I drilled another hole. Im pretty sure it was the new one off the corolla, not the old starlet one, sorry David. I remember now the old one was a tad too short. Joz -
Welcome to the site Brian! Will be great to see your new Glanza! Joz

Most of it is good kit for what you pay, Im happy thats for sure. There are cheaper kits out there but the one I got lets you do it all which means you can wire the horn easier and it fits better for airbag starlets. If you want any opinions throw some links up here, but at the end of the day get what looks good to you. Any 6 stud steering wheel will fit your boss kit once you get one as its such a common fitment, so all your momo, sparco and universal sports wheels will fit, ebay uk would have some too, shop around mate. Happy hunting! Joz

Vibration after fitting the Corolla Manifold

Could you not re-use your old bracket David? The one that came with the rolla mani was slightly different so I had my old one fitted by drilling an extra hole. As for the source of the vibes, I would certainly find out what it is. I didnt have any problems with mine. Joz -
Hey Stevie Approx £100 for the bosskit from yahoo auctions, around £35 for the steering wheel and £40 for the snap off boss both off ebay usa. Joz

Hey Stevie I took a different route and got a starlet specific Boss Kit from Japan intended for cars with airbag steering wheels as the inside is larger due to space for the airbag etc (airbag is removed of course) and allows the horn to be hooked up inside. Expensive and a long wait but you get what you pay and wait for! Here's some pics of my Bride 320mm replica steering wheel, I have a snap off boss kit installed too which brings the wheel closer to the driver and you can take it off for security reasons. Once you mess about with changing the wheel, you have to go and get the steering re-aligned as chances are you will upset the balance when removing everything. Always disconnect the battery when working on this. Joz

Hey Tommy As we discussed mate, if you are on a standard platform you will feel a difference from each of the mods you are after. The front strut brace will improve your turning and road stability a little as expected in a small fwd car. As for makes, the glanza/gt one is the cheapest you can get and still does the job, I had one when I first started out and can recommend it if on a budget. The cusco ones do the same job and start from £100-£120 however they are a very nice piece of kit, I own both front and rear braces and cant recommend them enough. If you are not planning to get one now, I would at least invest in one a little later. Onto the rear, there are quite a few areas of the rear to exploit as one of the EP's weak spots can be the rear if left standard. The rear strut brace will reduce the slippyness/sliding you get from the rear when turning at speeds or on roundabouts, this will sort you out. The rear anti roll bar is another great addition by reducing your body roll during cornering, it helps so much as the EP doesnt come with one as standard. The highest brace you sometimes see is the C-Pillar bar, altho it is debatable whether it gives much handling gain due to the C Pillar area being so small, it is certainly something to look to if you want that little bit extra for your setup. Of course there are an abundance of other braces and mods you can do the EP chassis but that can be discussed another day. Hope this is enough to keep you going mate! Joz

I would say its a discontinued factory option extra and there was a time when you could order them from TTE Germany, but it was extortionate. Not any more tho unfortunately. I emailed them last year but they had nothing lurking in the storeroom lol. Toby bought his from them in the day for his black SR and it was expensive for what it was. Makes a huge difference to an n/a EP of course due to direct fit etc. Joz

All the best with next weeks insurance events dude. I prefer less attention tbh but each to their own  I have a whale of a time when Im out in the n/a, but she should at least give me that after all that has been done lol. Stick to the EP Project mate, you have come too far, like me to give it up now and the main thing is you really love the driving experience which is what its all about! Performance Engine will be the final piece along with my 3G brake discs Joz

Thats awesome news guys! Did you get a printout of the RR result? Would be interesting to see the rest of it  Really have to get mine RR'd, still waiting on bloody parts! Im really impressed! Joz

Glad you finally got your mitts on those Ignis seats dude! Joz

Good call mate. Its better to be a true enthusiast than go looking around for races and being the fastest etc. Give flux a call and see what you get mate, but dont forget its more lenient for peeps in england/scotland than over here, they didnt even want to know about my 5efe conversion so were twats to me, hope you have better luck dude. For uniqueness Im staying n/a and seeing how far I can take it, Im still not happy with the suspension so am gonna tweak things again, bloody alignments aren't necessarily a good thing if you have been used to how it was before for so long... need that negative camber back. Welcome to the site Jase. You can find all of the non turbo starlet tuning discussions in here >N/A Engine Discussions including more detailed information on the inlet manifold etc. The Technical Discussions section is a good place to start if you have any technical or in depth problems or queries with your starlet, as well providing useful part numbers and in depth How2 Tutorials. Both turbo and non-turbo applications are very welcome with both scenes thriving worldwide. Im sure you will get a better look and feel for the site the more often you are on. Hope you enjoy the site and happy posting! Joz
