  1. It's a track car, weld in roll cage et al. Just rebuilt the engine, and running a TF035 turbo. I have a build thread on here which I haven't updated for a while. Or if you check out http://speed.academy I've written a few articles about the car on there.
  2. Hi.. It's only just been taxed and MOT'd!! I did so in order for me to use it on my wedding day this weekend! The car has been a labour of love since buying it 4 years ago.
  3. Seal is in a brand new oil pump so I don't think I'll have scratched it, but something to look for when I get round to taking it to bits.
  4. When rebuilding I obviously renewed all the seals. I seem to have a leak from the cambelt side crank seal, but can't think what I must have done wrong for this to happen. The seal was installed squarely, and I spent a long time making sure it all lined up. Is it possible to install it too far into the oil pump? I remember there not being a lip on the inside of the pump, like there is on the rear main seal housing. Any advice would be great. Thanks
  5. Struggling more and more with Torquing mine up so I think it's about time for a new one. Does anyone know the part number for it? Cheers
  6. I need to fit a number plate to my car, currently have a square type plate and it looks rubbish. Happy to run a slightly smaller "show plate", as the car will very rarely be driven on the road. What have others done? My front bumper has been cut out which doesn't help matters.
  7. I offered to send a spare shifter, which is still stands if needs be.
  8. Get the plastics off down the side of the car for an inspection before you spend too long on the mechanics of the thing.
  9. Odd. Will at RDT mapped mine previously and did a good job.
  10. Pretty certain they are a fine pitch thread
  11. The stock gearbox bolts aren't long enough to use with an engine stand. I can't remember the bolt spec, but I'm sure I just measured it and then bought a pack of 5 or so from Screwfix. Some were too long, so I packed the space out with washers.
  12. I sent across the information they asked for ages ago, never heard anything back. I've chased it up this morning.
  13. Have you tried another pressure sensor or gauge? Can you trust the gauge reading? If so, you have a problem, and I'd be worried about running the car for any length of time as is.
  14. I've got a silent one on mine, pretty certain the only real difference is a set of springs to stop the plates jangling about. The plates are machined to accept the springs too I guess. It is silent though.
  15. It's easy to fit a shitty little carb filter, that's the only reason you would do it. When was the last time you saw a car used in any form of competition, that had a bike carb air filter fitted to it? Except those with bike engines fitted, of course. And even then, they'll likely have a filter per cylinder.
  16. Might have one of these, I'll have a look next time I'm at the unit.
  17. Or just buy a non oe pump that comes with a housing? You've probably got a non-oe housing fitted anyway, which is why the new pump is fouling.
  18. This might sound crazy.. but have you thought about measuring it yourself? You aren't measuring bearing clearances, just use a ruler, or tape measure to give you an idea and order something as close as you can find.
  19. Unless you've done plenty of laps, you'll not really be going fast enough to bother oil temp I wouldn't have thought, unless it's a blisteringly hot day. Don't labour the car up Kesselchen, and you should be OK, I'd be more worried about brakes than oil, unless you have those dialled in already? I'm in Sheffield, and have a cheapy oil temp gauge that I was going to use before I stumped up the money for an additional defi gauge and sensor. You're welcome to it, you'll just need somewhere to screw in a 1/8npt sensor, and wire the thing in.
  20. Clive at http://autotronixdevelopments.co.uk/ might be worth a chat to. He has experience with that ECU on MX5's, and he's done some work on my car as well so knows his way around the Starlet.
  21. My car lives in a dusty environment, and unless you're properly looking you wouldn't know. The best way to clean it is to blast it with an air line, that soon gets rid of all the dust. Banbury Flocking Services did my dash a few years ago now, and it still looks as good as new. I chopped the speaker bits and pieces off of mine so it fit properly over the cage. Make sure you do all of your cutting and shaping before it goes off to flock, then you don't risk damaging it.
  22. Soon to be all changed as I ditch the DEFi's for a full colour dash which I'm putting together to run with my standalone setup.
  23. How far along are you with the car? It's been there for getting on for 8 months now?!
  24. I don't find the imgur app particularly user friendly for external linking, but I do all of my external linking on a PC, so that's not really an issue for me.
