are you crazy enzo, dont recommend a 5e swap! 5e swap = LOTS OF MONEYS... i say that from personal experience. itll take you about a day to strip down the 4e and get the ring sorted. if the bore is scratched, then youll have to get the engine out and decide what you want to do. either new block or open the bored up, i recommend no more than 0.5mm. if there is more than a .5mm damage then id recommend a new block. the walls are scary thin of 4e's as stock and making them smaller is asking for trouble. having your block bored out and a new set of oversized forged pistons will cost about 4-500 quid. then i STRONGLY recommend getting a better manifold, unless you want to do this again.

a starlet has a 45 litre tank from bone dry. but it will read empty at about 40 litres. and due to the turbo, it will return milage depending on your right foot. youll get 300 miles from it if you drive sensibly. if you drive like me, youll get about 150 to a tank.

the a048s also dont last too long. best all round tyre ive used (and trust me, ive used LOTS) is the toyo t1-S. trust me, they are ubes

aaaah the old classic 3rd cylinder problem... i will bet all the money in my pocket that you have the stock manifold on it... stock manifold = tiny third runner = meltey piston/rings. you might want to get the head of and check the piston, if youre lucky itll still be ok.

Toyo T1-S are great tyres, they're quiet, hold the road very well and are also real good in the wet.

if i could afford both, id have a scooby, they are much better cars..

ive seen one of those before in japland, and it looks ok to me. and one thing you have to remember, 99% of tgtt people have only had starlets for <6 months and know fuck all about (the parts for) them.

geo, i have a defi egt gauge, i like it, takes about 5 mins to get going, but they all take a while to 'warm up' (no pun intended) and as for AFR. i have the NGK one, its a bit bulky, but i know youre one for function not looks. it works well and only needs calibrating about once a month and it only takes 5 mins. hit me up on msn if you want to chat about it matey.

go and drive the car pretty hard for about 10 mins. and then take the pressure. you want to try and get it so that when hot all tyres are about 32 psi. they will differ from front and rear.

mud and water and shit gets in anyway mate. yes, the backplate helps, but it wont make too much of a differnece. if he was rallying it, it'd be different, but its a road car, doubt itll see too much debris. they look lush though, how much are they mr toothbrush?
