Thanks bud. Bourkey

;) excellent idea. No point taking it and having to wait until you get a decent bike. I have been told by several riders that the older you are the more quickly you will get bored on a small bike. Fair enough it is sensible but more worth while mastering the bigger bike quickly . Bourkey

@ Luke - If you are under 21 then you can only do the restricted test, which means you are restricted to 33bhp for 2 years. If you are over 21 you can do the Direct Access Test which allows you to ride any bike when you pass. These rules apply whether you do a crash course or not . So if you are under 21 and do a crash course it will be for the restricted license and for over 21 then you can do either the restricted or the full DAT. @ Kennedy - Crash courses are merely for the speed of passing. You will ride for the same amount of time doing lessons so im just doing it in one hit. Far far better than dragging it out. Bourkey

Practice ;). Im taking a week crash course with manual CBT, and full test included. Im not pissing around with lessons for months like i did with my driving test. Oh yeah you need to do the Theory test before the CBT as you need the Theory certificate to take the CBT . Bourkey

Mine was a reconditioned engine with about 4k on it so im not sure it will be that serious but don't hold me to that. I was told it could be bubbles in the coolant. Bourkey

Im also getting my bike license instead of another car license when im allowed to drive again in August. If you have a car license and you want a bike one then you have to take the Motorbike theory test first. It is pretty much the same test but for some reason you have to do it. I have spoken to the DVLA to check this too. Im also getting a 600 too. Im undecided over an 07 ZX6R or an 07 CBR600rr . As long as you take it easy, bearing in mind they do 0-60 in around 3.5 seconds, whilst learning then you will master it relatively quickly. Bourkey

I had the exact same thing wrong with mine for about a month, the needle bouncing too. Never knew what it was but it just disappeared after a month and never happened again. I didn't lose any coolant though so your problem could be a little more serious. Bourkey

Thanks all Yeah my recovery is still going fairly slow but i will get there in the end. I just have to be patient to let everything heal now and hopefully i will not need any more operations. I'll be getting my license in August if all goes well so that is what im now aiming for. Only 31 weeks to go . The reaction to the bike idea is as i expected. But life is too short to not do something i've always wanted to do. Plus im not paying £3k+ insurance for a little crap rust bucket. @ Sparky - Yes the bike i want is an 07 ZX6R ninja . There is so much that points me towards a bike, the insurance, the running costs, parking it up at work, etc etc. Im getting my car license back as soon as i can to get it out of the way but the chances of me getting a car for a few years are pretty slim. @ Craig - Oh you mean some pissed up bell end, thinking it is a good idea to push me into something that could have blown up when i have a broken arm . Nah that wont help me at all i know. @ Idrees - Yeah you and Craig can pop round to say hello if im in. Nice to know im thought of still . @ Blair & anup67 - Trust me it aint worth taking the risk for. Bourkey

Hi all, I've not posted in so long i thought i'd just let you know things are going. I know it is a daft time to post but i've woke up in pain and can't sleep...ah well. Im also continuing this as a kind of blog to show what happens when a near fatal accident happens. And also put people off doing the same thing as i did. Since i last posted it has gone so great. My bone stopped healing completely and there was nothing i could do about it. My nerve however did improved suddenly. I started having electric currents sent down my nerve by the physio and that prompted it to come alive. I got a good amount of hand movement back although my hand was still weak. I couldn't pick up stuff etc as it would flop down. Then the metal rod in my arm came loose, which caused large amounts of pain. Then the next operation came. They have taken the metal rod and the screws out of my arm and removed any scar tissue, which prevented the bone healing. Originally i was supposed to have bone taken from my hip but in the op they decided not to and use artificial bone to fill the gap in the broken bone. This was all plated together with a tough plate and what i think were about 10 screws. Next time i see the x-ray i'll count them. After the op i woke up in a fair amount of pain to say the least. But i had a very bad reaction to thee anaesthetic that put me to sleep making me very ill. The worst bit though was as they put the plate in they moved my nerve out the way but it doesn't like being touched. So all my movement i got back is gone again, which is extremely frustrating. I can't do physio as the physio lives in the hills and can't get to the hospital so i just have to try and move my hand unaided until i can go again. Before i went into hospital i could still not turn a steering wheel and i doubt very much i can now. It seems the doctors prediction of 18 months without driving may be pretty correct. Regardless of whether i buy a car or not i will take my test as soon as i am able to get it out of the way. It's affecting me massively not driving as public transport is extortionate and regularly breaks down/late when i was in work before the last op. And when i am eventually back at work it will continue to eat at my pay. It's not that i miss driving because i don't as i am not fit enough to drive. If i was fit enough i suppose i would. It's all the fun that came with it i miss. You are probably going to think i am daft but my next choice of vehicle is a motorbike . Obviously in about a year when im better I've picked the bike and what i want for it too. I've always loved them more than cars but never had the guts to get one but i may as well enjoy life, as i have found out, it could end any time . Plus the £530 insurance price tag compared to a £3000+ car quotes i have had made my final decision. I'll post again when i can . Drive safe everyone!!!!!!!!!! Bourkey

I'll double check but i've seen what she got and it doesn't seem like she got much at all from them. Like i said both my parents haven't had anything like this before and they have had Toyota's for the past 15 years i reckon. Bourkey

As much as i would love to i have spoken to my mum and they refused to give her the sheet. She asked for it to show what was wrong they whipped it out of the small amount of paperwork they gave her and hurried it through a door. Clearly had something to hide. I have driven (one handed lol) the car recently in a back alley to put it in my back yard and the clutch was normal and didn't sound funny at all. There was no odd noises coming from the engine and it seemed to tick over fairly quietly. From what i have found out i now can't really see it being a mechanic. I could be wrong as it still could have been one, but there was clearly nothing wrong with the car and someone has decided it would be a good idea to rip off a woman on her own who just about knows where the steering wheel is on the car. I personally don't use garages at all and i've always advised to steer clear of dealers due to the cost. They are good but unfortunately pricey. But it just seems they are now desperate for money to do this after my parents have been using them for so long with no problems. Bourkey

Honda Hater . Usually you don't hear anything about japanese car dealers doing this. Yes they are pricey as they always are as they are realiable cars. But it's usually the other companies you hear more of. Guess they are just desperate for a bit of money now. Whoever does it though is very in the wrong whatever the company. Whether they are the boss or not they know what they are doing and it's punishing the people who buy their cars. Bourkey
-
Firstly, I didn't say who it was or make out i knew what happened behind the scenes i just took two shots in the dark at what i thought it may be. I couldn't care what position the little prick was that was on the phone, if it was the boss of the entire company or the joey of the dealership. You weren't there and neither was i so, from what you said, it is a good probability it wasn't a mechanic but doubtful it's 100% as i've seen them on the phone at the desk to customers on earlier occasions. Whoever it was said the car wouldn't make it home. Not exaggerating that is what the guy actually said down the phone. Secondly, Someone was obviously behind this and it is pretty clear my mum isn't the first and they should be held accountable. I believe a boss should be as he/she should know what his/her staff are up to. Whoever was on the phone is a cheeky little prick that needs an estate exhaust ramming down their throat and the boss should be in the job centre for letting his/her staff do that. Bourkey

Well the address for the Dealership/Service centre is 7 Bolton St Bury, BL9 0EY I will get the names and I will check with my mum if it is ok to put the names down of the people who are down on all her paperwork as she is the one taking action against them . Bourkey

Fair enough it's the credit crunch and they need to make money but if companies keep fucking around with the most important part of their business, the customer, then it will back fire. @ Jay - It's my parents, they aren't as under the bonnet as me so they have always got the servicing done properly . Bourkey

As you all own Toyotaâ??s I thought it would be good to warn you about the following. Im not sure whether itâ??s the company trying to stay afloat due to the credit crunch, or greedy mechanics lining their pockets. My mum has a Toyota Yaris. She bought it from an independent garage 3 years ago. Itâ??s tip top and in very good condition with low mileage. My mum does about 3000 miles a year too. My dad has always got his Toyotaâ??s serviced at Toyota and said my mum should do the same. She bought a deal where she got 3 years servicing so many pounds (not sure how much). This year was the last one in the deal. She dropped the car off at Toyota in Bury, Manchester and went shopping for the day. She got a call later on from them with a cheeky prick of a mechanic saying I hope your sitting down bla bla bla. He said the car need just under £1000 worth of work doing to it !!!!!!! He mentioned a few things to her that needed doing but being my mum she didnâ??t have a clue what he was talking about. One thing she did hear was the clutch was desperate for a change and needed a new £600 clutch (whether it was a racing clutch and fly wheel set they were fitting im yet to find out) but the dick then said we could probably leave that for today and dropped the price around £400 (maths wasnâ??t a strong point clearly £600 clutch suddenly a £400 one ). Also the water pump wasnâ??t working and it urgently needed replacing. The little tit also said a bulb is only £2.50 do you know what a bulb is on a car????? PRICK!! He ended by saying the car wouldnâ??t make it home. Worried she was as you can imagine. She rang me, I was at work so I couldnâ??t answer so my gran suggested the local garage she had been going to all her driving life. She picked the â??crippledâ? Yaris from Toyota and drove it 3 miles to the garage. She left the car there overnight and picked it up at the end of the following day. Nowâ?¦.The car was with them the whole day, 5 experienced mechanics did various tests, took parts of the engine apart, checked the clutch, water pump and the various other things mentioned by Toyota and foundâ?¦â?¦.NOTHING!!!!! Absolutely NOTHING. My mum was more shocked than when Toyota told her is was just under £1k. The car even had an MOT and it passed with no warnings or advisories. This is pretty disgusting for any company to do this but to do this now especially when people are short of money is shocking. Imagine if my mum had paid it and imagine all the others that have probably been done over by this little trick. There was apparently another man there who had been hit by a similar problem and he wasnâ??t very happy either. My mum has contacted trading standards over this, and will be contacting Toyota themselves. I donâ??t know what she will get out of it but she isnâ??t the sort of person to let this go easily. She has all the names who did the checks and servicing at Toyota as well. So if you do go to Toyota in the near future I would be very carful and I would especially avoid the one I have mentioned . This is from a partner in the law firm i work for. The new telephone 'scam' has arrived. I received a call from a 'representative' of BT, informing me that he was disconnecting me because of an unpaid bill. He demanded payment immediately of £31.00 , or it would be £118.00 to re-connect at a later date. The guy wasn't even fazed when I told him I was with Virgin Media, allegedly VM have to pay BT a percentage for line rental! I asked the guy's name - the very 'English' John Peacock with a very 'African' accent - & phone number - 0800 0800 152. Obviously the fella realised I wasn't believing his story, so offered to demonstrate that he was from BT. I asked how & he told me to hang up & try ' phoning someone - he would disconnect my ' phone to prevent this. AND HE DID !! My ' phone was dead - no engaged tone, nothing - until he ' phoned me again. Very pleased with himself, he asked if that was enough proof that he was with BT. I asked how the payment was to be made & he said credit card, there & then. I said that I didn't know how he'd done it, but I had absolutely no intention of paying him , I didn't believe his name or that he worked for BT. He hung up. Did 1471 & ' phoned his fictitious 0800 number - not recognised. I ' phoned the police to let them know , I wasn't the first! It's only just started apparently but it is escalating. Their advice was to let as many people know by word of mouth of this scam. The fact that the ' phone does go off would probably convince some people it's real, so please make as many friends & family as possible aware of this. This is good but not that clever. He gave the wrong number - it should have been 0800 800152 which takes you through to BT Business. The cutting off of the line is very simple , he stays on the line with the mute button on and you can't dial out - but he can hear you trying ( this is because the person who initates a call is the one to terminate it). When you stop trying he cuts off and immediately calls back. You could almost be convinced! The sad thing is that it is so simple that it will certainly fool the elderly and vulnerable. Please pass this on to friends and family and be on your guard. Bourkey

People Who Have Done 4efte Conversions...
Bourkey replied to ste91's topic in 4E-FTE Engine Discussions
Blimey it has been a bit of a debate this. At the end of the day everyone knows the costs involved in the swap. They are slightly more but not as much as people think as Phil has pointed out. It is a hassle to do but what really do you expect when you are taking the engine out of a car. It's not a piece of lego that pops out but it is easier than people assume. Everyone who has done it has enjoyed doing it even when they moan about the problems. You have read every post about this so you will know whats involved so if you still want to do it then good on you and i wish you all the luck. Take your time and plan everything and it will be simple to do. Bourkey -
Mate it's a minter. Im realled gutted about not getting a good drive of this. Siobhan has and she said it drove perfect. The guy i got it off had it serviced at Honda every 10K as his son worked there. The book is all stamped up too. I think the factory bhp is 106 bhp. All it needs is Tax and MOT but if you want it i can do it for the right price bearing in mind Tax is £100 for 6 months and MOT's are around £30. I doubt very much it will fail. Wheels are 4 stud.

This is for sale now so PM me if you are interested. I've had it for 3 months so don't think the price is going to go lower than i paid as im not budging im afraid . Bourkey
