depends whats wrong with it mate, whats the play like, side to side, up and down. it could be a case of a straight forward rebuild around £150-200ish or if the plays bad it may need a whole new core £300-400 ish depends where you take it and what need to be done too it.

welcome. are you in notts? im in notts an actuator is a part of the turbo that opens the wastegate. the stock ones are pretty weak and can struggle to hold boost. nothing wrong with them on long journies really as long as your not on full boost for hours which you wont be! lol ct9s which are on the starlets are very good turbos and reliable at stock boost pressure and have regular oil changes.

no pics mate im afraid. the best way to do it is to wire in near your fuse box under the drivers side. ie, find the fuse for the headlights and follow the wires. if you buy the tacho it will more than likely have fitting insructions to help you out. the wires will need to be spliced into other wires you may be best taking it somewhere if your not sure. im sure places that fits alarms or car sterios may do it.
-
you will have to do the wiring mate if its an aftermarket tacho its usually four wires.......... red = a switch 12v (something that only comes on when the ignition is turned) black = earth white = dash lights (for the back light) green = rpm signal/ ignition coil (which can be taken from the diagnostics box) its not major difficult really but you will need to know a little about wiring.

no riko people will give views on there own experiences regardless of the "facts" that disagree with said "own experience".
-
if i knew what i have heard now about rotas i would probably not buy any. but the fact i have and speaking from my experience of owning them i cant see a problem with them at all. ive had mine 2+ years and they are still as good as the day i brought them. all depends what you want, what price you want to pay and what you can find. but rotas are as good an option as any for the money.
-
and blow off with airgun if you have access mate. should be ok.
-
the day mine snap in two will be the day i slate rotas. i dont care if there copies one bit. if it bothers others they should grow up. rotas are good for the money.

well im not running with the bottom sensor. im sure its not important and was told by many people its not needed. also my car is running fine with no issues or smoke.
-
is o2 the top or bottom of the two on decat rick? im assuming top, as the bottom one is just a cat temp sensor right? and not needed.
-
check the pvc valve first though as it can easily cause an exhaust to smoke.
-
first off change your pcv valve. it may be a little blocked causing an engine breather problem. if that doesnt work then maybe a bit of oil is getting past your oil deflector or shaft piston ring in your turbo. you wouldnt have had the smoke before as the cat would have been stopping most of it. if the 02 sensor is the bottom one of the two on the decat, im not running with it either and have no smoke.

theres in no engine difference between the two and no performance difference. the same bhp, . welcome

im building my own hybrid as i build turbos for a living. the best part is that its costing me nothing! anyone know if i can just move rad?
-
just want to remove the rad for the time being so i can get an air filter to the front grill. not sure on the part number but its the belt from the uk spec n/a starlet.
-
ok, i plan on moving just my aircon rad as a quick fix so i can run a filter staright off my hybrid. i plan on getting all the gas drained out profesionally. is it possible to just remove the rad on its own?
-
i keep forgetting your still not driving it sorry!
-
you are like 2 minutes around the corner from me and i still havnt seen this! good stuff mate.
-
get that arb on mate, you will be happy with it!
-
thanks, the hybrid has been well thought out, im not going crazy like most hybrids that are for sale, just slightly bigger shaft and taking the compressor cover out to fit a slightly bigger comp wheel. it will be a modified ct12 turbine housing, ct12 bearing housing and shaft, modified ct9 compressor cover with a nice sized comp wheel that i found, think its from an isusu trooper! i will be starting it tomorrow at work so might take pics of the build.
-
yeah its truely a work of art. mc chu has done good work. i just cant wait to get my homemade hybrid build up and on there now!

ok first off carbon reverse scoop is on. i was unsure of the idea of it, but when it arrive i realised just how beautyful this thing was and on the car it looks sweet as hell. the pics dont do it justice. other part hasnt arrived yet but expecting it soon. the next update is that the "keirz spec 1 hybrid" is coming soon. ive been designing and building my own hybrid. for now its a one off for my car, but dependent on its performance i may look at making a few more. pictures soon..........
