The 20mm is heavy duty so technically it should have an advantage over the 16mm, especially on track. Yes, I would get them removed for peace of mind. It's not a difficult task. I removed mine from my old E46 330D and E60 530D. Great cars by the way No doubt you'll get bored in this a lot quicker than you would in a Starlet Turbo.
