Any interest In Fia approved 4 point harnesses ?
StuDoc 72 replied to james@cjperformance's topic in Starlet Parts For Sale
Now this is interesting seats rails and harnesses. Good route to go down james with your coilovers aswell. I'd be interested if there were harness bars made available for people who dont want to rip out their interior or drill holes in the chassis. -
Stuck coilover! HELP! :( SOLVED OH YEAH!
StuDoc 72 replied to whitestar's topic in Chassis & Suspension
Parafin is good for stuff like this personally i think diesel is that bit better. Give it a soak and if that doesnt work get the blow torch on it. -
You might find the length of the hid's is down to the ballast moving around or the power switch being auto instead of manual? http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/categories/mtec-bulbs/mtec-halogen-bulbs/cosmos-blue Thats the MTEC ones I have on my VXR they look just like HID's and are brighter than regular bulbs. Good selection on that site and well priced.

Any update on these mate?? -
Sorry mate I said earlier in the thread that socks removed it. Should have quoted you in on my reply so you knew it was directed at yourself.
-
Haha whod of thought my plastic material and spray guesses that both would have been right lol. Just call me the flocking expert!
-
Isnt it some sort of spray? Or am i talking shite? Failing that it must be a very thin plasticky material?
-
As long as you dont buy one that is ragged the hell out of you should be fine mate as I said they are very reliable cars as standard. Do you know the supposed spec of the car or have an internet link to it? We can have a look over it? Have you had a browse through the for sales on here? Also look through build threads you can see what a standard engine bay should look like that way you can tell if it is standard or not. Best thing you can do is be patient and not jump into anything if you have any doubts there are a load of starlets out there.
-
Also interested in this mate. I know of a car interior place on south street in glasgow couldn't tell you if they do flocking though.
-
Not really common faults as such mate. Just what you should expect from a 15 year old turbo car. Check underneath the car for rust, inside the engine bay and boot. Check the engine for oil leaks or a creamy mayo like stuff on the dipstick and the oil cap. Check the coolant is relatively decent. Check all the electrics which to be fair are normally bullet proof. Make sure the engine is cold start it and check for blue or black smoke at the tailpipe with an oily smell. Steam is ok when the cars cold in this cold weather. Take it a run and dont be scared to get the foot down i

Japfest - Scottish Members, Whos Trekking Down ?
StuDoc 72 replied to daniel_g's topic in The Scottish Quarter
I like the optimism lol. -
Yep mate if you look back this tends to be the sortd of general banter thread for all the scottish lads just to get their chat in amongst ourselves. Like paul said pop some pics up we have a scots starlet pics thread most of us have contributed to. And welcome mate most of us are also members on TGTT aswell.

I use HID's which arent exactly legal anymore. I also have MTEC bulbs in my corsa which are legal and are pretty much identicle to HID's in the are of them being nice and white rather than yellow they just arent as blinding.
-
Best off going directly to the manufacturer for them pal. If they are meisters I know they have a trader on TGTT. Not sure if there are traders on here who could handle this.

StuDoc 72 replied to Ashstarlet200's topic in Welcome New Owners!
Welcome. Looks not bad mate. Personally id get a new rear bumper and regular exhaust but its personal taste It has the standard mani on so will be ct 9 cant tell if its the standard one or not. Decent enough base tho im sure ull find plenty info and opinions about what route to go down power wise. Happy modding. -
The other belt comes off similarly you just loosen off the adjustment bolts on the power steering pump. Theres 2 14mm bolts going in to the face of the pump and a long 12mm adjustment bolt down the front of the pump at the radiator which u use to tension the belt instead of a lever. You would be best of replacing both.
-
hapnin mate get a few pics up in the scots starlet pics thread. Good to see someone using initiative and coming to the scottish quarter
-
Welcome to the party mate. Better late than never.
-
If you are still not sure. You will need to loosen the 2 bolts the one below the alternator you can see clearly and the one above it that has the piece of metal that it can slide along just below the dipstick. Once these are loosened with a bit of strength put your hand under the alternator and pull it forwards towards the front of the car. Slip your belt over the pulleys stick a longish screwdriver or anythin longish and sturdy between the alternator and water pump and push towards the back of the car this tensioning the belt. Tighten your 2 bolts and sorted!
