Does anyone have a spare daisy chain wire for the prosport gauges, I need to get one for mine
-
Like colin said, loads of WD40 overnight, if they still dont shift then you will need to get a blow torch and heat up the rings, then give them a twat with a lump hammer or somthing else heavy! Oh dont forget to stick it in a vice!! but protect the threads so you dont fuck them up

Once you loosen all the main caps the crank is literally held in by nothing on the left and I would believe the gearbox would just be holding the right, the tabs stop the bearings from rotating in one direction, according to interweb you can lightly tap them out the other way, not 100% sure so wanted to check, bit of a fiddly job but taking the engine out isnt an option!

Bit of an odd one, since moving house I haven't got any where to take my engine out and I want to change the bottom end bearings on the car. I can change the big ends no problem with the sump off, but i also need to change the main bearings. Obviously the crank is still in attached to the gearbox, but i have heard its possible to remove the mains normally hidden by the crank if i loosen the caps and let is hang slightly, allowing room to carefully remove the bearings. Anyone done this before?

Can the gear be selected while the engine is not running, does it actually go into gear still? If its crunching but going in then i would say the syncro is worn out, it wont do anything to the gearbox, its just more of an annoyance. On a plus note though a box can be picked up for less than £100 if you do want to change it. -
Just got it started and running this evening before the sun went down, its got some noticeable cold piston slap now since i honed the block when you rev it, but it seems to settle once its warmed up, although i think this is normal with forged pistons. Off to tuning developements Thursday morning AGAIN! i am a bit paranoid about driving the car there and back, i might trailer it, what do you think. I have got to run the piston rings in tomorrow just before i go, talking about a tight deadline!!

Taggy replied to Tyron Devine's topic in Interior & ICE
I think in total including the boot bits your probably looking at around 4kg, its alot of work too! -
i lined the bottom pulley with the notch on the gear with the marking on the oil pump
-
I was always told to use the 4e marks, even TD said he builds his engines on those timing marks. I have got it sorted now anyway, i should have car finished tuesday, rain is stopping me from finishing it today!

I removed it all out of my GT, i even weighed it all I was going a bit madl with weight on mine at the time! It weighs about 1.5kg per side. -
This happned to my car at JAE last year, one of the terminal wires came off the battery and the solonoid would click but the starter motor wouldnt turn over. Check that you have put all your connections back onto the battery.
