yeah hes gone a bit expensive GTBitz, last time i purchased one i got it for £650, £850 is a bit expensive, but at the same time there are not many complete engines about.

bah its been lost for good, gutted, got to redo the pissin thing,

they have told me that its been lost when the database crashed, I am gutted! I have to rewrite the bloody thing. Well ill start a new one continuing on with the 5e build, so it can help anyone else who wants to make their own engine. It was really daunting to start with but i am starting to get my head around it now

A bad earth on the car can cause really weird problems like this, check the earthing straps on the car, they might look ok, but undo them, grease them and put them back on, i think there is one from the battery to the right of it to the chassis, another is attached the the gearbox. Visually check them, if they are really rusty take em off clean them up and try

i don't think it needs grinding, just a good polish, how do i know what the standard size journals should be, does anyone have the specs?

I have got my 5e crank, looking at it its got some light tarnishing on it where its picked somthing up on the journal, but its still smooth as silk so not worried. I noticed the crank bearings come in different sizes, i.e standard and oversize 0.25 and 0,50. How do i know which ones i need? Do they need to measure my crank journals? Does anyone know the specs so i can give them to the machinist dude. Also are the 4e/5e crank bearings all the same size?

As much as i hate to say it, but i knew this car was going to go pop with those figures on standard internals. I think you have been unlucky but like everyone else has said you will just have to take it on the chin and repair it. If i was you, turn the power down to about 200, it will last hell of alot longer!!

Hey Azz out of curiosity did you brace your manifold/decat to the engine block, or did you bolt it straight on?

Only way i can afford to get the 5e in at the moment is if i can get some used forged pistons and rods, anyone know any one selling some?

That model doesnt have a turbo timer, but there is one that does. The geometry has been different prices the 3 times i have had it done, it really depends on how difficult your suspension is to undo it its on coilover. Mine were seized on so last time i spent about £150, most of that was spent whacking my coilovers lol, but then another time it cost me about £50. He charges by the hour hes working on it to do it, so as long as he can undo them easy it usually done within an hour. I am afraid he doesnt give you a spec sheet, but i am sure he could print off the measurements if you wanted. I just never asked, hes a nice fella.

ok i found the piston sizes Piston STD MARK 1 73.910mm, Piston STD MARK 2 73.920mm, Piston STD MARK 3 73.930mm anyone know the coresponding maximum bore sizes to suit?

I need to know the sizes of the standard pistons for the 4efte, they come in 3 different sizes, also the maximum tolerance bore sizes that they can be used with. Cheers Taggy
