  1. It does but i also need to pull out over a grand from somewhere to do it and its a bit short notice!
  2. ohh my god!! i cant believe i am looking at another engine to buy, when you say rebuilt do you mean everything including all the bearings, valve stem seals etc? Any receipts, also why is it being sold and any reason why both oil seals have gone, that seems a bit unusual on a rebuild?
  3. Yeah i guess you have to factor the age in, i didnt think about it. I guess unless you do a fresh rebuild this is what can happen. I have got a bit of a dilema now as this has caught me in the middle of stripping my 5e getting it ready to go in the ep70, only problem was that i wasnt expecting to do this until winter!! I have now got four options which i can do at the moment for japfest 1. Take my 4e engine out strip it, replace the rings on all 4 pistons, put it back in. 2. Buy Ollies spare 4e engine and just transplant that and then rebuild mine and sell it later on 3. Finish the 5e conve
  4. Yeah i read this already, the car definetly wasnt detonating I would have heard it and also i had it on the rollers last month, so i am a bit confused.
  5. yeah its weird the car is still running completly normal, you wouldnt notice if you didnt look at the breather, so i think there is a very minor crack which is why its still running. This was an engine repair that i did not expect, i need to get this done before bloody japfest too!
  6. This is a big ballache to fix, i had suspected a piston ring. At least i seem to have caught it without any obvious major damage so far, i am hoping to just take it out (AGAIN!) and just put a new set of rings on. I want to know whats caused it though, could the previous boost spiking have done it, there were a couple of times when i seen boost spike to 1.5 bar briefly when my actuator failed. It was only for a few secconds but i guess that may have goosed it!
  7. I noticed the other day that the engine note on my car at low revs had changed slightly and although it drives and idles ok and doesnt misfire, its definelty changed. I also noticed that i was getting oil spray on my rocker cover from my breather. Reving the engine you can noticeably see vapour coming out of my breather and also the oil cap if you opened it, there also seemed to a be a significant amount of airflow coming out of it too.   8. ah right ok, so the gear should slide over the key thing, should i just wedge somthing behind the gear and whack it off?

I knew when i was going to take the crank out that i would need to remove the crank gear, how exactly do you get it off, i noticed that there is a little metal bit sticking out the side which i am guessing has somthing to do with it as shown here Its the bottom gear with that metal piece sticking out, can someone explain what i need to do, i havent tried anything my self yet as i dont want to damage it.   11. That sounds like your clutch doing somthing weird against your fly wheel, also sounds like metal on metal!
  12. oh another thing, do a compression test with it warmed up properly, you will get odd/incorrect results if you do it from cold as your piston rings will expand slightly when hot. If your still getting results below 150psi a cylinder then it could be worn rings, you can check to see if the rings are worn by pouring a teaspoon of oil down each cylinder, crank it over over again with the tester and see what you get. If it shoots up loads then your rings are worn,if its still low then it will point to other things such as the head/vales etc. Good luck!

  15. Oddly it doesnt really matter what car you go on in, there are loads of cars on there which are slow/fast with people doing it for the 1st time. It is a bit nerve racking the first time as i was crappin it too, but seriously after a few laps you get into it and its lots of fun!!! Dont worry about your engine blowing up either, that is highly unlikely, especially if yours is an N/A, they teach you what to do before you go on, its pritty easy

Yeah i have always had problems with the car maintaining a set level of boost, it would hit about 0.8bar once the turbo spooled up at say 4000rpm then it would do a see saw motion gradually rising to 1,1bar as it hit full rpm, but now the EBC controls the actuator its self and opens/closes it depending on what boost i set it at. I pull off now and the boost flys straight to 1,1bar at 4kish rpm, so its got massive power at much lower revs, your gonna love the passenger ride at japfest i tell you, my mate was loving it tonight!

  19. Ok just bought 6 sessions for this, ha ha no there not all for me At £25 a session for castle combe this is the cheapest i have ever seen it, its a god dam BARGAIN!!!
