Welcome along bud! Would need to be pretty low to need a pan hard rod, my last V was on 45mm lowering springs and didn't make a noise

You will be able to tell visibly if it looks bent/banjo'd when you get it out mate, picking up another fork would cost you less than £50, hopefully it's that!
