  1. lol, it will have a welded in cage with sill and door bars, and we havent taken out any material out of the parts it actually needs once the cage is in. at the moment the paseo is only getting worked on on wednesdays, as thats when jack is off college, because i have the 86 to sort, looks like not gonna have any events till next year due to lack of funds, ian ordered the diff parts from america (ring and pinion, and uprated plates) so just waiting on those to arrive, ive done the fibreglass bonnet and front wings, they still need trimming and i still have to make a mold for the boot too. ive also got the karmann ghia to sort, ive fixed the crash damage, so just got to put a skim of filler on there and refit the engine and gearbox.... alltho my dad has nicked a few bits for his buggy, like flywheel, starter motor, starter motor mount, engine studs etc :S lol the bus passed its mot, but its got a problem with the front airbags i think its just a stuck regulator so not too bad. ive also bought a set of 30 inch tyres for the tow truck, as it ground out in the service area on the new brighton rally this month, so its going higher now it looks cool slammed but not practical for rally service.
  2. been going round the car cutting off un needed bolts, brackets and studs. every little bit helps
  3. co driver footrest, still needs holes drilling in it, and brackets making to mount it. holes holes holes....
  4. hatch back? they all had boots, not hatch back. good little car, cheap to insure, cheap to run, easy to get parts for.
  5. no mate, got a rally friday/sat
  6. front and rear seats are goin in the bin, so if anyone wants them for free, come take them. they are in good condition and will go in a starlet. located in Longridge, Preston. they are in the way. cheers
  7. obviously i had to slam it ;) and sticker it up done some more work on the paseo, and also took it to oulton park gold cup weekend, where it was on display.... it got more interest than any of the classic/race cars there!! which i'm pretty supprised at. i guess people like to see a work in progress. i was suppost to take the ghia or the 86, but seeing as tho the ghia is in bits since it got rear ended, and the 86 is missing most its bodywork as i'm making fibreglass panels for it, the paseo was the only one rolling. ive had an apprentice working with me for the last 6 weeks, he is 16, name Jack, hes learnt a lot since he has been with me, and seeing as tho he got 3x A* and 9x A's in his GCSE's i said he can have 1/3rd of the paseo. he bought a 1 1/2 inch hole saw and has been working away on the car trying to get rid of some more weight. its looking good.
  8. aye the corolla went really well, apart from the brakes started to fail, the peddle kept hitiing the floor, which resulted in a bit of a fight with some truck tyres, which totaled the passenger side door, and second to last stage the diff blew the crown and pinion. so work on the paseo is on hold for now while i repair the door, and we try to get a new crown and pinion. yesterday we went to get a load of fibreglass and resin to take moulds of the 86 wings, bonnet and boot lid, to try and shed some weight, as the car is running a full interior for road rally regs. ive also been doing some work on the truck, next week when my apprentis is back of holiday, i'll be taking the whole rear end off, so we can paint and waxoyl the chassis. and make a tow bar for it. also need to fit a winch and paint the trailer to match the truck.
  9. also bought a new tow/service truck and car trailer got some alloys for the truck, and it needs lowering, and ive been taking the silver stripes off today.
  10. i finished building the truck engine, so work on the paseo can commence tomorrow and the 86 diff seems ok
  11. LMAO now that would be sweet, mid mounted truck engine? ha ha yeah its defo worth treating the underside of your car. the 86 was waxoyled from new, in every part of the car, the interior was stripped out to do it inside all the panels, and its defo worked, it didnt need the usual mass of welding that 86's usually need, only rear arches and a little bit on the front wings and sills. whats crazy is ian only payed £500 for it and it was mint!!!
  12. a bit of work has been done to the paseo this weekend, painted the whole underside of the car in chassis black, and under the rear bumper, then once that dried, it got a good coat of waxoyl under the arches before the plastic arch liners went on theres no rust on this car, so with the treatment should last for a good 20 years without the need for welding my mate ryan busy painting the truck engine ive been sorting for my mate, and the 86 diff is now rebuilt, last job of the day was to set the backlash on the crown and pinion, so with that done ian will be putting it back in the car tomorrow and give it a test, fingers crossed its ok, or we wont be racing :S ive got faith in it tho, it should be fine
  13. sorry mate, it was knackered
  14. faaaake. to advertise their dash cams. yep yep
  15. just to keep you guys updated, i havent really done much to the paseo revently, just bodywork, sanding the paint down and sorting any dents out, i welded up the hole for the ariel and put some primer on all the seam welds to give them a bit of protection. my insurance company sent round a guy to check out the damage to the karmann ghia, and recons its gonna be about £4500 to fix the damage, the cars worth fair more than that, so wont be written off, so hopefully i'll get some cash so i can get back on with fixing it. also ian and i took the LSD out of the 86, as the car is pulling to one side when accelerating hard, on inspection, the plates are really worn smooth, toyota only do the inner plates, so we are gonna replace those and see how it goes, its gonna be better but not perfect, we are doing a rally on the 23rd so dont have time to order a plate set from the states :S
  16. celica brakes only fit under 16inch wheels, so no good for me. as i need to run 14's due to all my rally tyres are 14's think i got enough tyres?
  17. yep allready ben exchanging mesages with them, and another company, tom, i'll look into gt4 brakes, see what they are like.
  18. i recon go for deep dish 15's, maybe some banded steelies, stretched tyres, some camber on the back, and slammed ive gone for 14's, big ass tyres, and jacked up
  19. allright mate, looks very smart indeed. check the usual, air filter, plugs, leads, throttal body opening fully when foot to floor? no vacume pipes loose/leaking?
  20. hi fella and welcome. you got anything planned for the car?
  21. thats awesome dude, lovin the mat black engine bay!!! nice motor too ;)
  22. aye some nice large flaps will be schweeet. got a couple of options for the paint job so far..... white, or pink and black bonnet/boot/roof dunno yet :S lol also depends whats sponsors say... i'm in the process of trying to get some decent brakes for it.... so fingers crossed i'll get somthing good ;)
