Was the oil level checked before driving ? Was any inspection carried out before buying ? People will always try and sell dodgey cars, its just one of those things that happen. But its down to the buyer to give it a proper once over before handing over cash. I know you said youre away atm and the missus picked it up, but the RAC and what not offer inspections.

Dont open the seals, some of these ECUs have UV light sensitive chips that get wiped by light. Also nobody in their right mind would buy an ECU with broken seals. If it does all the things a P&P does, raise RPM limit, remove speed cut, raise/remove fuel cut etc. Then its gotta be a P&P no matter if its got stickers or not.

Nice spec list there !! I hate to say this but it looks very generic (varis front and rota grids), your starlets always looked really different and stood out from the rest. Should get one of your Cruise style bumpers fired on there instead Mix it up a bit.

Knock sensors are over 150 new and tbh it doesnt sound like thats the problem anyway. Unless you are getting EML and code 52 faults ?? Sounds like you have excessive crankcase pressure if the breather pipe blew, and with it overheating and smoking i'd be looking at doing a sniff test just to rule out a HG on the way out. Just before you go spending out on a knock sensor for no reason

You dont need to worry about the rods, they will probably be the last thing to break. I was joking when i said 4 bar. 1.2 bar or whatever will probably be a good pressure to run, but it also depends on what comp ratio you have, octane of fuel used etc.
