Yeah im aware of that, some eaton superchargers have a similar kinda thing. Was generally taking about the folk who point to your dump valve and say, 'cool wastegate mate', you know the type. And then having to explain that its not a wastegate, its a dump valve. It happened a few times with my old impreza, i was still running an internal wastegate and actuator setup. And a blitz DV.
-
Aye it was clarkson when he was in the prodrive p1 iirc. Anyway they are different things lol.
-
You know what i hate though, when people call them wastegates... Try to explain the difference between an EWG and a DV to someone who is specially retarded. Its quite amusing. Not aimed at the OP by the way lol !!

Just rev the car with the throttle body pully, listen for the noise. Then go turn the lights etc on and do the same. If it squeals only when the lights are on then its most likely the alternator at fault. Spraying wd40 just makes a mess actually, i only done it with mine because i was trying to lube the belt to see if the noise went away.

I hope to fuck there is never a starlet in a music video ever again.

Looks lovely mate, is this the 8k9 colour ? Looks darker than the others ive seen.
-
90* movement means the tension is ok. Let the car idle and spray loads of wd40 around the area. Increase the revs with the throttle body when youre doing this to. The try it with the alternator under load, ie, lights on full beam etc. Check for squealing then.

Fuckin hell man, even if it was a joke, whoever the fuck it was needs put in an asylum or something man. -
Thats true actually ^^^ but if a turbo shits itself then normally oil ends up in the exhaust. Worth a shot to clean the exhaust out for 5 quid worth of petrol.
-
You can check the belt tension by turning/twisting the belt to the side, should go to around 90* Changing it is a piece of piss mate, disconnect the negative battery cable, loosen the long alternator bolt (possibly a bracket to) and pull the alternator torwards you, might need to use a lever/pry bar/ long screwdriver of some sort incase the alternator is wedged in. Then slip the belt off and repeat in reverse order.
-
Take the exhaust off and pour petrol down it a few times. Then take it for a fucking good blast up a motorway to get rid of the left over shit in the system. If youve ruled out, turbo, rings and stem seals then chances are its oil residue in the exhaust.

I wouldn't give him any cash at all. He is a dirty robbing bastard.

Youre best to stick a long screwdriver to push the release tab on the clip itself, otherwise the clip might snap and you'll end up with an irritating rattle. Pretty sure you can leave the fan box in though.
