  1. As far as im away this one was in northen ireland as i have a folder with its service record and original tax holder from dealer that imported it. Chasis looks fine and along sills are solid in fairness a knew the chap that owned this previously a few years back and minded it like a baby shame to have seen it so neglected now Ill be dropping the tank anyways so can inspect it for rust and treat it while its out ill fire up a thread of its progress have a heap of parts to source firstly a proper sr bootlid
  2. Cheers colin long time outta the scene this will be starlet no 12 ha ha
  3. Well ive spome to one of thw lads he says fuel tank down axle down and out axle stands and plate the hole cut whats bad away weld in a new plate wire brush as much as i can get it good and clean any surface rust treat anti rust primer and shultz the whole back end wheel arches included So just have to get it into the shed and start pulling the rear end apart Ive attached a pic to show how bad it is
  4. That's what I was thinking the sills usually from people jack them crushing the will lip and then eventually crushing the sill up This is started near the side of petrol tank ill take a few pictures of it tommorow and the small hole that's in the wheels arch usually has a black tape spot over it
  5. Howdy people after been out of the starlet scene for a while I made a bold decision last night probably to hastily and swapped my golf for a starlet sr I knew it needed some cosmetic tidying but when I went about replacing the broken exhaust I spotted a hole along rear chassis leg just beside fuel tank and the rear wheel arch has a small rust hole aswell Is this a common issue as in all my years of owning starlets I've never seen one with rust in these places I'm now thinking if it has rust like this where else could it be lurking
  6. Cheers have it sorted now Cheers have it sorted now

  12. going to upgrade master cylinder as the 1.0 is tiny and then do all the brakes i don't really wanna swap out rear axles as handbrake is spot on 3 clicks and is locked solid fronts will get new hubs and bearings all round so i can run vented and grooved discs like my glanza had front anti roll bar will have to be beefy trd id say is best bet and rear anti roll bar
  13. well time for another little update after a few days of hardship with the gearbox swap finally have it with 5 gears turned out clutch was wanked so picked up a 5 speed box along with clutch flywheel and release bearing for €100 i did get to drive car before engine was pulled out so i knew box was good also passed its nct was a re test but only failed on small stuff the power bug is getting to me so that's next up some sort of engine upgrade the 4efe i was meant to buy has fell through he doesn't know what he is doing with it but for now the 1e will have to do more handling upgra
  14. Cups arent an issue mines has inner cv joints I popped the complete drives outta the box its just as handy None of the mounts are removed long 14mm at back and the 2 14s under front one box bracket is left on
  15. that could well be it when we were fitting it we put the box on we put it on slightly twisted to avoid the rear mount slid it in and then twisted it anti clock wise so the rear gearbox bracket could slide between the rear mount then wiggled it on to the engine making sure it was sitting flush and into the dowls whats the best way of doing this can i fit the flywheel clutch kit box back on linkages connected back on its mounts and try it then just without drives and wiring and other small bits left undone basically just to check everything is ok before i fully finish it
  16. a wire somewhere is shorting out the connection i take it this is an aftermarket alarm try to disconnect the wire that is connected to the feed for your fuel pump to kill the pump if the cars is started without first unarming the alarm first
  17. gearbox is already back out going too fit a 4efe clutch and see how i get on we tried this still wouldn't push clutch disc far enough away from flywheel to disengage it
  18. ok ill pick them up tomorrow and refit them see how i get on hopefully fingers crossed that's grease colin i checked it minute i seen it i had to check it out
  19. have been offered a 4efe gearbox clutch and flywheel from an 98 starlet for €100 car can be driven before its removed so will know if its any good or not gonna price a 1e clutch in the morning aswell what about a release bearing will i need a 4efe one or will the 1e do the job
  20. you were right theres a threaded adjuster there but it pretty much out at the last
  21. ive never seen any adjuster on clutch pedal in a starlet i may have a look
  22. i didn't remove clutch first i just dropped 4 speed out and fitted the 5 speed only thing i did was swap release bearing out of the 4 speed and into the 5 speed here's a pic of my clutch disc the pressure plate
