Why's he getting rid of it? It looks so good compared to standard! Not sure why it didn't come with the plastics but to be honest it looks quite good in person as the light grey contrasts well with the other light grey bits like bottom half of the dash etc. Now all I need to do is get some Glanza bumpers and side skirts...

JOKE!

Ah they look spot on mate really really nice- making me miss mine loads.

He's got some really rare recaro fishnets with rear bench that have gone in, not my cup of tea as I think the 98's look great and mine had some lovely custom lowered subframes built from scratch

Thanks mate, I'm really happy with them, I'd like to find some new centre caps as well but all I can see is cheap stickers on fleabay.

Ah right, I had a look at recaros but just had my heart set on the 98s as it looks like it came from the factory with it, and I agree why didn't it just have this interior in the first place, and also more power, they could've at least put a 1.5 paseo engine in SRs.

Today I put the original bulbs back in the clocks, the blue ones kept on flickering, blowing and just lit up very unevenly, looked tacky. That'll teach me for buying cheap eBay shit.

Next up this week I'm going to respray the wiper blades to freshen up the car a bit more, at some point I'd like to remove the petrol tank and rear beam, give them a really good paint and also properly under seal the car, not sure what with yet as I've read good and bad things about waxoyl and dinitrol etc. I'll probably also replace all the bushes with poly ones as well whilst I'm at it.

What would this be worth roughly IF I decided to sell in January? 34k miles, FSH, cambelt done at 28k, alloys freshly refurbed and would come with a years MOT. They are so rare in this condition I don't really know what I would sell it for IF I do, almost all I have seen for sale have had at least double the mileage of mine so it's a difficult one to price.

Yeh that's roughly what I thought, and I agree they don't really have a cult following like say for example old fords and vauxhalls. So it'll be a good few years before and if these are worth silly money. One good thing though is that black SRs hardly ever come up for sale it's mostly silver ones you ever see now.

Yeah mines silver was very popular in the late 90s on a plus side it hides the years well in terms of scratches etc but black ones do seem to hold their value, id keep it if that's possible see it as a investment

Yeah black shows everything you could scratch black paint with a feather lol. I probably will keep it but I just go through phases of wanting a change. But another thing a non enthusiast/car person will probably see it as way over priced so my market would be very small.

I got 2350 for mine mate and the ad is still on here if you want to see the spec/details of the car. If i was after one again i'd pay up to 2500 for yours if it's as clean as it looks. You're right though it does take an enthusiast to want to spend that much but good ones are really worth it and black ones in good nik are getting rare as you know.

Mine seems to have got people thinking any old SR is worth double what it was 6 months ago now though ha ha. Like the silver one that's been on ebay for months with 90k, no REMUS back box and they still want 1500 for it. As already mentioned, if they had a ford badge they'd be worth double but that's what makes me like them.

Another absolute bargain is the Corolla Compressor - seriously cheap for a 250 car limited run. Ok they aren't that powerful but 250 has been had easily with a decent, neat FMIC set up. They don't handle great either but a decent set of coilies would sort that.

I've seen that silver one aswell my guess is if its not sold for 1500 its obviously not worth it , I know mines worth nowt with 138k on even though its really tidy , pikeys sr was my favorite on the forum , mines coming off road mid next year for a overhaul in a year or so after as it will be almost 20 years since I bought it as a treat to myself as Il be almost 40 , id rather store it for a few years than sell it for peanuts

It is very clean indeed, I took it to a Toyota specialist on Monday to get it up on the ramps just to make sure everything is good for MOT next month, guy said I'd be mad to sell a car in this condition that cost me just £450 and if I am ever stupid enough to sell it give him a call. Its made me think though is it really worth selling the cleanest most reliable car Ive ever had just because I want more BHP.

Haha Pikey you have raised the bar for Starlet prices it seems, I too have seen that silver one on fleabay I'd say the fact the MOT is almost up and the poorly written advert hasn't helped and also that white one with 78k that was up for £2295 but has been dropped to £1995. You may have also seen a silver one on gumtree recently that was on there for months at £2500 with 87k and I don't think it ever sold.

I changed the gearbox oil today I'm sure this has been covered on here loads of times but despite reading that the box requires 2.4 litres of oil mine started overflowing at around 1.9 litres if that helps anyone browsing this thread.

Ah cheers Burty. The lack of power did bug me sometimes but that was out weighed by how special it felt. Kind of taught me that power isn't everything coming from some powerful stuff in the past. For me I just couldn't put the miles on it that I now have to do and had nowhere to store it :/ I do miss it.

Yes mate 450 was a crazy price to get it for lol. When I drove mine into my local Toyota most of the staff including the manager wanted it. They actually wanted it for the show room and I was close to loaning it to them but they got told they weren't allowed to.

lol honestly as soon as mine had sold I instantly saw people asking more for them, which is cracking within reason. I'm one of their biggest fans but some people seem to be taking the piss a little with prices. Mileage isn't everything but it is a big part of the value along side history and condition. I always wanted two- my mint one and a high mileage one I wouldn't mind hooning around a track.

Ive decided I wont be selling this for a while, I'm dealing with enough fucking idiots selling my fiesta to put me off selling another car privately for a long time. Seeing as my drivers side headlight keeps misting up badly I'm just going to order some crystals from id-workz when I get paid, along with some amber indicators. This is unintentionally becoming almost identical to Pikeys thread lol.

It's pretty straight forward - on the Seo when you pop the bonnet you'll see a couple of plastic brackets coming off the headlight, held in with a couple of 10mm bolts IIRC.

Remove the obvious ones first and then just grab it and give it a firm wiggle, you should quickly be able to see what is holding it in. I also seem to remember that even when you remove all of the bolts, it still needs a bit of a gentle tug (tee hee) to work it free. Once it's free, just unscrew the old bulb holder and pop it in the back of the new headlight - refitting is the reverse of removal ;)

Thanks mate! All done, was a pain in the ass trying to do it in the dark but I wasn't going to go in defeated, I couldn't budge the bolts but the 'gentle tug' (pulling until the veins were popping out of my forehead) was all it took. They look smart AF will upload some pictures in the light of day.

Thought I'd update this as it's been a while, even though there's hardly anything to update on... but here's some pictures of it I took yesterday, with the crystals, much better.
