Claymore
1 minute ago, Dale SR said: As a few of you may have seen on my other progress thread, I purchased this super rare Starlet Si canvas Top that was on auction on ebay. She has been locked away in a garage since 2001 after being imported in 2006, Sadly the owner who originally had her imported from Japan has died and this is how she ended up being put for auction on ebay. I got her for the bargain price of just £790! The auction ended last Wednesday 23/06/2020 and its been a long week waiting on her being collected by a transporter company i use however today is that day and she has just been loaded onto the truck and I will have her home at about 4pm! she is a complete mess and will need everything looked at, I have been told the engine ran perfectly before being parked up but we will find out. One of the mounting points for the lower amrs definitely needs attention however the rest of the underside looked to be ok however I've not seen her i person yet! I belive this is the Mk1 ep82 canvas top as I think they changed the rear panel in later models. I'm not sure about the Model name I know they definitely made Si models however I think the R has been stuck on at a later date. I also think the front bumper could possibly be a uk spec as the number plate recess looks the uk size however I think its the right style, im not 100% clued up on these models so any information from anybody is hugely appreciated. My list of work for this starlet will no doubt be extensive however I really feel she is worth saving. I will update with more information once I have her back home. Filth! Can't wait to see her restored. I saw it on the bay and I think it was the drivers front lower control arm body mount looked a bit crusty? Anywho you know you have a car addiction when you have a car transport company you use! Looks very interesting with the roof rails and sliding roof

burty
20 minutes ago, Dale SR said: I have been busy every night after work trying to get the interior back into shape, I way underestimated how long this would take! The countless hours of washing the interior with a wet and dry hover is unbelievable! I started with the seats but then after some advice stripped out what feels like everything out the interior excluding the dash. I knew when lifting the carpet something had leaked out in the back as it was stuck to the floor! All cleaned up and a nice solid floor and behind the quatre panel arches were totally sound with no rust or water ingress as I know this is where it can start. found a few Yen for my troubles . I haven't taken many before photos of the roof and that's all I have unfortunately. I still have a few bits to go over but almost there! The carpet is what I'm currently working in at the moment and I don't think ts going to be great judging with what's split through it, The fronts coming up not bad! I will add another update once she is back together. What a transformation I read the Japanese hid money under the carpets for good fortune/luck or something along those lines could be utter rubbish though
