Leak sorted!

I needed to blank one hole off that I missed, but lesson learned!

she's now sat on her wheels, suspension all set, but more importantly the charge air system is complete!

the turbo exits with a 90 right, then a 135, into a 51-63mm 90 reducer to fit the intercooler. I was unable to pipe straight from the turbo to the cooler as the bend was too acute and the cooler too close.

well folks, its a very emotional moment!

TEH KITTEH LIVETH!

I fired her up last night once a few teething issues with the Inlet mani were solved, and re routed the intercooler piping.

She went this morning and had her downpipe made :p

ill stop typing before I get all soppy and show you the money!

Just rolled out and firing minus downpipe, I was so tense at this stage, I couldnt bear failure.

I started on cleaning her shortly after,

it took 3 runs with near neat surface100 through the snow gun before it stopped dropping grime lol!

I followed up with a lighter citrus TFR to wind the concentration down, and rinsed with the filter on and air dried.

Next up came Farecla G3, followed by Menz IPF106 finishing compound.

im trying out some new Zaino Pro 5 polishes, and ill finish off with my good old faithful Swissvax Shield

it HAS to be said this way.

WHAT A FUCKING BUILD

had a complete read through but i'm unsure, i know you started it off by adding a turbo onto the 4efe still running the high comp pistons but on going td04 and removing block again did you use gt pistons and rods or go for forges or did you keep n/a pistons?

Thankyou all for the really kind words, its very encouraging, and ill keep trying new, crazier, weird-er things to keep you all interested lol!

I was leaving for work the other morning (I drive a yaris daily) and I liked this angle so popped a quick shot for you all, I just like the way the light hit it in the morning!

it catches the spokes of the sparco's quite nicely! plus you get the beautiful view of the duct tape keeping water from flooding the inside of the car! Bonus!

heres a few shots of the various gauges im fitting to keep a vague eye on her, the reason I say vague is its more of an adventure and if she goes the way of the trackstar... well... thats the price I pay for having so much kitten business going on lol!

781260146a8514224330l.jpg

I had to take two shots as the macro couldnt focus on all three simultaniously.

Trevor scored me some nimbus sheeting, and got my idle down another few hundred rpm, so my next job is to box up the area between tont of herhe TD04 flange and the cooler piping as its a scant few centimetres apart, and must be heating the cooled charge something shocking!

It was great to meet you mr nanglebadger sir! your a true gent!

you can borrow my helmet anytime, as long as you dont polish it in front of her lol! pardon the pun!

did you get many good pictures on Sunday?

  • 2 weeks later...

its been a while since I updated as Ive been running all over the place busy helping people out, but with the help of my good buddies Trevor and Robbo, ive acquired a few new toys!

you may have noticed my new thread in the resolved issues engine section:

'guide to making a starlet earth kit'

this thread will bring you upto date :

http://www.toyotagtturbo.com/showthread.php?t=22585

that brings me up to this stage:

781260146a8614299026l.jpg

all earthed up and looking particularly racey lol!

you might have noticed that the intercooler pipe appears to be wrapped in aluminium bubble wrap, and you'd be close! Trevor donated some of his waste (but very expensive might I add) Nimbus heat reflective sheet. This fancy material insulates whatever you enclose, from nasty heat soak. I noted trevors bay being relatively cool even though he was pasting the hell out of his mx5 track car, he has his manifold totally boxed in with this stuff and it works wonders. My issue was that the intercooler charge cooled pipe was getting cooked by the nearby manifold flange, to the point you could burn your hand if you touched the silicone. Now all the heat gets reflected away. My next task involves venting the hot air from the manifold area up and out! In case your wondering how the cable ties holding the sheet dont melt, I used stainless manifold ties!

781260146a8614299232l.jpg

im dead chuffed with my bay now. Its killing me not having all the looks outside, so the bay allows me to indulge in my urge for bling lol!
