200bhp starlet Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 hi i was with my mate on the weekend he has a seat cupra r leon the bloke at the seat garage told me that i should not go over 120 mph in my glanza as the head blows can anyone comfirm this or is it crap not that i go over 120 alot but according to the bloke i bought it off he had 150 out of it ????also what is the top speed on glanzas please Quote
ste91 Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 All of that is absolute shit mate, as far as I know it's not possible for a Glanza to go near 150mph due to the gearing? And the head blowing... his head is fucking blowing if he thinks a Starlet is going to blow up just because it's going at a certain speed. 200bhp starlet Posted September 22, 2009 Author Posted September 22, 2009 ok thanks got me worried just incase i damage my new baby lol Quote
Guest Enzo Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 you should not really be at those speeds anyways. could ram on about road safety but . . . .your mate is talking rubbishder she blows :P Quote
Guest Enzo Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 goonishly bad misinformation from this guy!ps could you please make sure you post in the relivent section "2oo bhp starlet" in this instance. >lifestyle general.topic moved Quote
Dan Evans Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 well first off, welcome.secondly, it wont blow up if you go over 120, but wont be healthy.if you do 120 on the streets, motorway etc , in my eyes your a prick if you do, one blow out or miss hap etc, it could be the end of you, or someone else's family. LukeSR Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 I think i could get 120 out of my SR Quote
Galliano Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Tell me how track Starlets live..Bullshitting greesemonkey. Quote
Sparky Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 What an absolute numpty!!And ste its possible to get over 150mph, stock gearing is good for 167 or something like that and TM's demo car showed 180mph on the dyno!! Quote
ste91 Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 I think i could get 120 out of my SR you could Quote
Steve GT Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 forstly welcome 200bhp starletsecondly to clear up the shouldnt be doing 120mph on roads etc lets talk a nice long run on a track or shut off runway etc i believe the starlets can do 140-145 mph. a lad i know tracks starlets and he said hes had 140 out of his with still a bit to go so im guessing 145mph is more realistic. as for the 120mph cracking the head thats complete bull and the guy whos telling you all this is abvously a complete clot lolhope this helps Quote
BAZ2CRAZY Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Change the gearing and get 300mph in a vacuum tunnel.haha, imagine doing 300mph in a starlet As lukeSR said, i believe 120mph is achievable in yes old N/A, youd need a fare amount of straight to do it on though..Mitch Quote
WallaceGlanza Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Sparky, explain why at the redline in 5th (not limiter) did my gps show 141mph. There is NO WAY the car's can do anything more than around 150mph. The gearbox is made for a 1.3 town car. No offence but keep dreaming if you think a Glanza/GT with stock gearing can do more than that. I know cause I've done it.The C52 (GT) Gearbox has different ratios (in 4th and 5th I think) to the Glanza box, so that's probably how. Quote
Sparky Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 My bad forgot they had different boxes Quote
RobSR Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Daves hit that on a dyno which has hardly any air resistance.. It is possible to get them to do it.. Hrf did, however not without a custom gearseat, higher rev limit aswell as a hell of a lot of power Quote
GAZ@A&G_TUNING Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 And ste its possible to get over 150mph, stock gearing is good for 167 or something like that and TM's demo car showed 180mph on the dyno!!yeah 165 on gps has been done before Quote
Dave L-W Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 The guy at the seat garage shouldn't be working at a garage with fantastic 'facts' like that, maybe he should be an F1 engineer Quote
bucketep91 Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 who would want to do anymore than that in a starlet anyway lol you get enough rattles and shit at low speeds never mind 140 +fuck that lol Quote
Dave L-W Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 i can only imagine its like doing 140mph on a roller skate, don't think i fancy that one. By the way guys a starlet could do 180mph easy.........................If you through it out of a plane!haha Quote

I know cause I've done it.that is flawed mate on a few aspects. the the c52 and c56 box and gearsets can be found in quite a few other toyotas that are not "town cars" an engine with a higher revlimit and decent power you could atain over 150mph gps figure on stock gearging. the speedo would be well out though reading probably more.No offence but keep dreaming if you think a Glanza/GT with stock gearing can do more than thatthink il keep dreaming then Quote
