burty Posted June 19, 2021 Posted June 19, 2021 love a thread revival gonna re read the lot again later such a clean shell Quote
Sam44 Posted June 20, 2021 Posted June 20, 2021 (edited) waw what a great thread/build. i was looking at these secrets you mention in your build, i was expecting the 4efe gen1 4efte power inlet manifold, but noticed that on your latest pictures you are on the 4efe gen2 ep91 uk manifold. i was wondering has this always been the case. reading your thread there are all the starlet greats replaying and getting involved in there. good to see you back on here. joel_ep91 Posted June 23, 2021 Author Posted June 23, 2021 Thanks burty, Hey Sam thanks for taking the time to read it all, yes I was running a 100ps intake manifold from a 1st gen 4efe (same as a 4efte manifold but without the sensors) and a ported 4efte throttle body was a pain to get the TB to work on the stock ecu badly over fuelling, but that’s how I made the most power, but yes on this current engine I’m running the stock intake for run in purposes so the ecu can read everything properly, then I will be going onto 45mm ITB’s from a 4age blacktop and aftermarket ecu, I have a hks vpro gold sitting it’s old tech but it’s a good ecu for all the functions I will need. Sam44 Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 (edited) oooohhhhhh yeh I was looking at as many dyno graphs as i could get my hands on and the power inlet (GEN1 4EFE/4EFTE) is by far the best option for a none turbo build, the torque drop/impact of the tubular rolla unit is awful and right in the power band part of the rpm (when you would normaly shift gear). the peak torque difference also is impressive. i was speaking with a older member ho was one of the first to run it (power inlet) and he described the WOT switch impact of the 4efte throttle on the uk ep91 4efe ems as "T" TECH (a play on hondas "V" TECH) this is because of the additional kick of power it brings, (fueling) i think i can see on your dyno graph. there was a ep91 4efed build using this setup from Sheffield on here ho hit 92hp with great torque output, with the "T" TECH also present. the graphs do look like a second cam comes in. haha. i just wished the 4efte inlet cam difference was known aout back then these figures would have been slightly more. im really enjoying your build keep up the great work. im running this inlet on my paseo 5efe. ive got 5ehfe cams here also. im thinking of going with a twin plate throttle body on this setup. i cant wait to see what comes next for you. Sam44 Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 is there any updates on this. ive nicked the idea of using the zisco rams horn exhaust manifold on the paseo 5e i have for now till it goes turbo next summer. great idea. im only going 4 to 1 with the runners thew. Quote
joel_ep91 Posted September 28, 2021 Author Posted September 28, 2021 Yea sorry have been making slow progress on the car the last couple of months will bombard a few more pictures here now got the front bumper fitted all new window rubbers fitted, made my own carpet and built up a lot of the interior waited 3 months for my cusco cage padding coming from japan, so mostly interior work waiting on a new front windscreen arriving then all the glass can get put in and pull the rear axle fit the powerflex bushes and get it powder coated, tighten all the suspension components then maybe attempt a MOT Quote
joel_ep91 Posted June 11, 2022 Author Posted June 11, 2022 Well it’s been a pretty crazy few months between moving out of my workshop and bring the car home and booking a mot and having a week to get it ready, after 12 years the car is finally back on the road it’s not perfect still a few bits to finish. Have got about 100 miles on the car and it feels great a few little teething issues to sort and will be able to finish the run in miles. Quote
rasslenny Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 "after 12 years the car is finally back on the road it’s not perfect" this line resonates with me on the highest of frequencies.... I absolutely love a project that everyone thinks is dead and it resurects from the ashes in front their eyes..... this car reminds me that the wait is soooo worth it.... shes absolutely stunning teething issues and all... crack on mate your inspiring all of us whos cars have been down for 5 plus years...
