A 5SFE 2.2 litre conversion any good

Recommended Posts

If the n/a rods are strong, maybe 10psi would be good for a street setup.

I would not go to the extent of making forged rods to suit a 2.2 to boost it to 20psi, because the pistons would be high comp. Too expensive route.

I was just thinking of a quick street 2.2 turbo.

is this the block people use to stroke a 3s?

also its a really really heavy engine for an ep chassis,

have you thought about any of the v6s

1mz-fe

3VZ-FE

or my fav

the 2gr-fe

the 1mz is all alloy and a good 20-30 kilos lighter than your heavy 5s

the 2gr-fe is uber light lighter than the cast iron 4age block + ancilarys.

just food for thought but the 1mz and 3vz can be found in donor camrys for much cheapnesss(400+)

5s being a block to stroke a 3s no, they use a 3s block and get a new crank and rods made up,

a 3sgte head does fit on the 5sfe block with a little work, and can handle about 15-18psi before u have too much drama (i did it to my old celica)

v6 will not physically fit in a starlet engine bay real easy, its bad enough to jam it in a celica, and i almost did it, but wasnt worth the hassle

this guy posting these threads should just stop, he is a troll and a waste of time... all of the aussies that are on here will know him well from all the australian forums he is banned from cause he is a retard
