Galliano
Phahaha. Brilliant stuff, even though they see cars on a daily basis they cannot see that yours is blatantly different..
Rob Scott
aye, and plus the engine sticks out of the engine lid, so its obvious that the engine is in the back sorry for the lack of pics on this update, i didnt get much done to the toyota really, as i had my mates mk2 golf in, doing a bit of welding to it and sorting out the paintwork that had faded badly (its a red car)i made some rear turet reinforcing plates and welded them in, the cage will also be welded to these so they will help stop the rear shocks deforming the shell after serious jumps, or even punching through, as the toyota metal, alltho real good quality - its quite thin. When i was welding up the 86, i though it was going to be a pain in the ass, because the panels are so thin, but not so, because the steel is very high qulity. this is excellent for a race car, because it makes it light, but its so chilled out to weld up the worse car ive welded up was a mk4 fiesta, the metal was quite thick, but real shite quality, it was so soft it was like welding plastic! total wank! thats why i'll never buy a ford!oh and sorry i forgot my camera, so i'll get some pics either today or tomorrow, i ended up in hospital last night, as a piece of metal went in my eye, it scratched the shit out of it, managed to get it out tho and got some special cream to put it, still hurts today :S
Rob Scott
i also made a quick shifter, cost me nothing and took about 10 mins. works perfect too.i took the origional shifter and modified it, real easy to do, all you need is a blow torch and a hacksaw or angle gringer with cutting disc, hammer and socket/pipetake the shifter out and stick it in a vice. the pivot ball needs to be slit, so take your grinder or saw and make a slice in it to the shaft. from top to bottom.now heat the ball up real well with the blow torch untill its nearly glowing red.take a long socket or piece of tube that fits over the stick but not over the ball, and hammer the shit out of it till the ball moves as far as you can towards the gearnob part of the stick.now chuck it in a bucket of cold water or run it under a tap so it cools.there you have a short shifter for 0 cash
Matt Moody
Fantastic build Rob, i am mighty impressed, It's a good job you know what your doing, cuz i wouldn't have a clue. The thought of taking a angle grinder to my paseo really does worry me so i wont do it !!!
Rob Scott
its only a car, dont be scared chopping into it at the end of the day its only metal, and nuts and bolts.heres the wires the car doesnt need, was a bit of a pain in the ass doing this as i didnt have a wiring diagram, so had to follow each wire back to where it came from. its made the loom a lot smaller, neater and lighter too.you cant really see that well, but the loom was taking up the whole drivers side footwell, but now its nice and neat.rear struts:i also did the cam cover in a sort of bobble effect matt black too.thats all for now folks.i could do with some sponsorship too, like seats, harnesses, suspension if anyone knows any companys that would be interested in having their name on the side of the car. its somthing different than the usual 205's, saxos, 106's and corsas that this car will be competing against, so will defo get the company noticed. I'll also take it to shows too
Galliano
If you would be amazingly kind as to have PASEOPIMP slapped on the car somewhere you would be much loved... Can't afford, nor have the business, to sponser you though i'm affraid.
Rob Scott
yeah i can do that no problem, probably as a rear sunstrip, as Demon-Tweeks will most likely be on the front screen.i aint done anything to the car today, ive been cleaning the bus and getting it ready for its MOT i need to pick up 5 1/2 gallons of engine oil for it this week,
james@cjperformance
^^^ thats amazing i want a bus now dont suppose you have a link for where you buy the stuff to do your fibreglass, i need to make a bootlid, bonnet front wings and both bumpers for my gt soon, so a heads up on what sort of price im going to be looking at for glass would be cool.loving the quick progress oh and the karmen
Galliano
You sir are a legend The bus is cool, but you seriously need a tidy up, marble worktop, plush carpets and a 3 piece suite with a telly that rises from the worktop.
Keri-WMS
I love this whole project!!!

Rob Scott
i used to live in the bus with my girlfriend, and our housemate who is also a girl. now i just use it for holidays. what do you need a tv for when you go to crazy places with your mates in a london bus? loli get my stuff from glasplies southport http://www.glasplies.co.uk/the karmann ghia got rear ended a couple of weeks ago, a guy in a passat wasnt looking what he was doin and failed to notice i had stopped to turn right.... so waiting for insurance to be sorted.mate, the wheels i'll be keeping for racing, the foglights, you can have for nowt buddy, pay the postage and they are yours today i cleaned up the garage, and welded in two 3mm plates for the main rollcage hoop, couldnt keep my hands off it, lol. no pics tho sorry.some cars i'm building at the moment, ouve seen the ghia, bus and toyota, and my mates 86,this is my dad's beach buggy, usually based on a beetle chassis, this one is custom box and tube frame with splitty running gear, and 1.9 vw diesel motor. built by me and my dad. keeps him busy when hes not out on his motorbikes.1 year only porsche motor, me and my mate andy rebuilt it, its to go in his early bay camper, but he has decided to sell it, as its worth about £4k ish, and he bought a flat 4 alfa motor instead.beetle hot rod, this is a shared project between me and andy ( andy in the pic)this is andy's caravan, made from a camper cut in half, its to tow behind his bay camper. we work on this at night, the front of it is the front of the camper too, so it has headlights and front window etc, looks like a dead short camper with 2 wheels.and this is my daily car, 71 reliant regal, slammed, spax shocks, and 850cc high compression race motor lol can have most cars on the road, and tops out at 100mph scary as fook, imagine the wild mouse rollercoaster at blackpool but with a race engine and on the road. lol ive only flipped it once, i learnt the hard was as i put my hand out the window when it tipped. nice big scar the reliant engine yeyaction shots of the ghia when i first built it a couple of years ago, 1600 aircooled race motor on twin 40's

james@cjperformance
Awesome you would get on well with my brother hes a vw nut. Thanks for the link just spent 60 quid on fibre glass lol.Think you should pop a legacy ej20 in the back of the bugrod
Rob Scott
sweet, show him this tread lolfibreglass is awsome stuff, its really chilled out to work with and you also get high we have a couple of motors, but just 1600 aircooled sitting around, so probably put one of those in the rod, its gonna be ultra low, just for cruisin and scraping speed bumps
Galliano
Loving the Regal. You have way too much money for your own good, it needs to be said. Especially couped up with two chicks in a bus to 'LIVE' in.. A dream I must persue.Il have the foggies mate, but wouldn't you need a set of lighter weight wheels and some rally tyres?
Rob Scott
i dont need light wheels, i need strong and cheap ones, i have LOADS of rally and race tyres, and no 4x100 wheels, so i'll keep the standard wheels.... unless you really want them and can swap me for some random 14 inch alloys?pm me your address fella and i'll find out how much postage will be, no worries.money... err i have no job, and no money... i used to work for myself building classic cars, mainly VW's, but i have a bone disease so had to give that up, i'm in constant pain and my bones fuse together, i have to inject myself weekly to stop the fusing. my girlfriend pays for the rent on our flat, food, etc, ive been with her since i was 16 and i'm now 26. if you notice, i make everything, so dont spend much cash on the cars so far ive spent £40 on the paseo the bus, ok that does 10mpg, but i make my own fuel, old cooking oil, heated and filtered, mixed with a little petrol or methanol, tax is the same as a car, insurance £200 fully comp
Rob Scott
oh yeah, i forgot to add, i dont claim, and not on the dole or anything, lol, when people ask me what i do, and i say i dont work, they instantly think that i'm on the dole and spend all my cash on cars. its just i have a very understanding girlfriend
Russleh
sucks you have a major disease but i like your attitude towards things. achieving so much while spending so little. everyone would have alot of money if they did the same while working lol.
Rob Scott
aye, lifes too short, and when i'm older i'm probably gonna be bolloxed, so might as well do it all while i'm young enough.no progress on the car today, apart from i recived the V5 through the post ;) sweeet tomorrow i think i'll pick up some more resin and get cracking with the bonnet and boot lid, and make a fibreglass/aluminium sandwich fuel tank guard, i managed to get some 3mm ally sheet, so to make the guard i'll wrap the tank in cling film, put on a few layers of glass and resin, then bond on the ally sheet, and then cover with more fibreglass/resin. then once its cured, crack it off the tank, and i have a nice strong guard
Matt_GT
This is a good read man and I don't even like paseo's lol!
Galliano
Ok you have too many abilities. Are you a hobo (as such) searching breakers yards and chucking old metal plates/bars/scaffolding over the fence to grab as you come out?You are bonkers man, gotta take my hat off to you!
