just to keep you guys updated, i havent really done much to the paseo revently, just bodywork, sanding the paint down and sorting any dents out, i welded up the hole for the ariel and put some primer on all the seam welds to give them a bit of protection.

my insurance company sent round a guy to check out the damage to the karmann ghia, and recons its gonna be about £4500 to fix the damage, the cars worth fair more than that, so wont be written off, so hopefully i'll get some cash so i can get back on with fixing it.

also ian and i took the LSD out of the 86, as the car is pulling to one side when accelerating hard, on inspection, the plates are really worn smooth, toyota only do the inner plates, so we are gonna replace those and see how it goes, its gonna be better but not perfect, we are doing a rally on the 23rd so dont have time to order a plate set from the states :S

a bit of work has been done to the paseo this weekend,

painted the whole underside of the car in chassis black, and under the rear bumper,

then once that dried, it got a good coat of waxoyl under the arches before the plastic arch liners went on :(

theres no rust on this car, so with the treatment should last for a good 20 years without the need for welding :(

my mate ryan busy painting

and the 86 diff is now rebuilt, last job of the day was to set the backlash on the crown and pinion, so with that done ian will be putting it back in the car tomorrow and give it a test, fingers crossed its ok, or we wont be racing :S ive got faith in it tho, it should be fine

LMAO now that would be sweet, mid mounted truck engine? :( ha ha

yeah its defo worth treating the underside of your car. the 86 was waxoyled from new, in every part of the car, the interior was stripped out to do it inside all the panels, and its defo worked, it didnt need the usual mass of welding that 86's usually need, only rear arches and a little bit on the front wings and sills. whats crazy is ian only payed £500 for it and it was mint!!! :(

aye the corolla went really well, apart from the brakes started to fail, the peddle kept hitiing the floor, which resulted in a bit of a fight with some truck tyres, which totaled the passenger side door, and second to last stage the diff blew the crown and pinion. so work on the paseo is on hold for now while i repair the door, and we try to get a new crown and pinion. yesterday we went to get a load of fibreglass and resin to take moulds of the 86 wings, bonnet and boot lid, to try and shed some weight, as the car is running a full interior for road rally regs.

ive also been doing some work on the truck, next week when my apprentis is back of holiday, i'll be taking the whole rear end off, so we can paint and waxoyl the chassis. and make a tow bar for it. also need to fit a winch and paint the trailer to match the truck.

done some more work on the paseo, and also took it to oulton park gold cup weekend, where it was on display.... it got more interest than any of the classic/race cars there!! B) which i'm pretty supprised at. i guess people like to see a work in progress. i was suppost to take the ghia or the 86, but seeing as tho the ghia is in bits since it got rear ended, and the 86 is missing most its bodywork as i'm making fibreglass panels for it, the paseo was the only one rolling.

ive had an apprentice working with me for the last 6 weeks, he is 16, name Jack, hes learnt a lot since he has been with me, and seeing as tho he got 3x A* and 9x A's in his GCSE's i said he can have 1/3rd of the paseo. he bought a 1 1/2 inch hole saw and has been working away on the car trying to get rid of some more weight. its looking good. :p
